Marksman question

Has the marksman kit been nerfed? If not, how is it aimed properly. I can't seem to get any sort of consistent, accurate fire out of it. No matter how long it is held still, anything over 150m it varies up to 8-24 inches. Is there something I'm missing (other than what i'm aiming at)?

Try to take about a half a second or a second between each shot, as spamming the target doesn't quite cut it anymore.

Whats the range? If you're shooting past 600 i think it deviates wildly.

Look for the dust puff and then thats your sweet spot.

What, bullets on a marksman kit never hit the same spot twice from the some pos, well they can, buts its unlikely unless its dead on target, wich it isnt, it randomly spaces a few <Inch> And increases as it goes along

How does breathe control works? It is not explained in manual.

you will have to live with it, there is random deviation which cannot be changed regardless of what you do. shoot enough rounds until one hits..

tested it for 1 hour,
get sniper, lie down, aim, then go to gun selection, click on the sniper, you hear breathing, i wait for it to stop, during it, etc...
it makes NO difference, and if it is suppose to then there is a total glitch, the breathing is just like a sound effect that is for making videos with, sometimes it hits nicely, most times it misses by half a meter at 200m range or so..
Will do extensive testing with measurements and starts, so i can flame with statistics

Go crouched, or better prone. DONT move. Hold even the sight still for a good amount of time.... fire.
Sorry I dont know the exact time... but i played sniper v sniper with a friend on local and we got the hang of it. You just CANNOT rush in any way.
Even after moving the crosshairs, wait. Tracking isnt too effective, so wait for guys to stop and build something, stop and cover, etc.
Just DONT be in a hurry

When sighted in you can get a sound which is just there to tell you how long you should remain still before getting maximum accuracy. You don't need to use it at all. It's just additional info.
Also remember your accuracy will go down a lot after shooting so wait another 6-8 seconds for the next shot to be dead on target again.

I haven't seemed to make myself clear...
When shooting at a vodnik gunner from 220m with an m-14 in prone position (at 90degrees from his directional facing), taking up to 30 seconds between shots and mouse movement, the bullets go 8 to 24 inches off everytime. Not one hit in three clips.
Something is broken.

Sometimes you can't kill the gunner at all until he moves, i think it's one of those BF2 bugs that can't be fixed. It's like... his hitboxes aren't even there, then he moves sightly and then your bullets start hitting. When it comes to deviation, i also think something is wrong... i've tried the marksman kit a few times and the 1st shot almost always misses by a few inches even after waiting long enough to get max. accuracy, then my target runs away.

What? No, the Sound effect is about 8 seconds long, it's there so when you go prone you press it, and you don't have to count to 8 yourself to wait for the deviation to be minimum, you can just wait until he stops breathing and you're ready to shoot.

Well there's your problem, you're using the M14/M21, they suck.
Go rifleman instead, odds of you hitting at +50 metres are way higher, plus you're more effective in close quarters aswell.

If im not mistaken the marksman kit is there to provide accurate long range firesupport for your squad. If a rifleman can do this better, and is more effective in cqb too...whats the point of the marksman kit and why is it still ingame?

Guys, the marksman rifles have been fixed since this thread was created. If you can't hit your targets with them, you're doing something wrong... most likely not being patient enough.
This threads use-by date has expired.
