Is a New player welcomed in PR?

I have been going over some of the posts here and with all the NOOB references, it almost makes a new player hesitant about playing PR.

Yeah. I'd sadly have to say that PR isn't really new player friendly. If you read the manual that helps (as everyone should). But a fair amount of PR players don't have the patience for a new player (from what I've seen). Just find a server with less than 20 people and play around. Once you get used to PR (shouldn't take too long) then move into the 40+ servers (pretty much the only ones most people play in).

hell yeah, army ain´t that player friendly is it?
well it simulates reality and so its here, grab yourself a nice squad, shut up, follow the orders and play much
after that youll be feeling much better, and be not that "noob-style" as before
(and p.s. PR is not that bad, take a look at ArmA, there the learning curve is much much steeper)

Hi!
I can only speak for our own community,
datorbutiken.com and I can
assure you that players that are bitching about other players because they make mistakes and maybe crash a helicopter, make a team kill, get stuck with an APC and so on, are soon to find out that such attitude is not anything
that we will let pass.
We all make mistakes and I for sure do it even today. (Short: I suck!)
Project Reality is very different from "vanilla", no doubt about it. One has to go easy when the battle is on, and one cannot take a heli and bail somewhere and just let it crash. That is a “no no”! I am talking about mistakes here, not stuff done on purpose.
The important thing at our servers is that we admins and players that really know how to play PR shall act as a host to the rookies. Not slander them.
To your question my answer is that if you are called names and being insulted by other players, just because you are new to the game, contact the community where the server is hosted.
I really do hope that you will find a good server to play on, because the game is really worth playing.
Best wishes,
Magrioteli

Hey, welcome to the forums. For the past two years I've been fighting a battle - not completely alone, thankfully - to get the general forum community more accepting of new players.
Whilst the current level of "newbie" and "noob" bashing isn't
anything like as bad as it used to be, it's still unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.
New players are PR's biggest asset. They're what keep the gameplay itself new and interesting; as much as DEV changes can do, they're meaningless unless players put them into practice and often
new players find that easier than existing ones (as they're bound by tradition and old tactics etc).
Any new member who joins these forums and generally wants to learn how to play PR is welcome, in my book. Sure, they'll make mistaked in-game and find it bloody difficult to get going, but with time and patience they'll become a great new player.
Give me a squad to lead that's full of keen new players eager to learn than a squad full of veterans bitching about new gameplay and bitching about how I'm running the squad, any day!
So, welcome to the forums and if anyone flames you for being a newbie, send me a private message and they'll get their asses kicked. I won't tolerate it in-game or on-forum.
Tactics & Teamwork [T&T] - are being particularly strict on this at the minute, any player caught abusing a newbie on our server is getting kicked

Arrrrgh, the n00bs are coming RUN!!
Hehe, always welcome newbies into our server... The referances you'll be reading is when folk don't read the manual, storm in grab hold of a valuable asset, blow themselves up and then say "Can I kill people with the shovel?
if ever you see a Tacteam squad running dude hop on in, let folks know you're a newbie and you'll recieve a warm welcome, things can get a bit hectic in the heat of a firefight but you'll pick things up rather quickly, Just read the manual, then read it again! that's all I'll say lol

Same here, "take far back left flank"
"ok dude" Rather than
"why do I have to take left? I'm better on the right, I don't think this is a good idea yadda yadda yadda"
Muchous prefer the former rather than the latter
Hope to have a good game with you sometime soon mate, Welcome to the PR Community

best way to approach the game is to tell everyone that you are new, otherwise they will just think you are acting a nob. There's no shame in it, I class myself as new as I played earlier versions, then gave it a break when cod4 came out (sorry guys) then when I came back to it, it was vers .7'' and totally different, now it is .8 and I still can't get my head around it yet so I just tell my team that "I am very rusty so go easy and treat me as a nub!"
There's different types of nubs, there's the new player who wants to learn how to play this mod who is welcomed with open arms and there is the BF2-nilla-pwner who thinks they can just rush in and waste all the vehicles/kits or TK for them....and then moan about the long spawn time

This most current version has a Training mode in which you can test all the new vehicles and get a general feel - but it's the squad based teamwork and comradeship that really makes PR enjoyable. That can only really be experienced with a decently populated server and a good squad leader, so don't be afraid to jump in the deep end once you've read the manual through. Unfortunately there are always going to be some bad apples who dis newbies in the forums, but just remember that while they're in the forums, they're not playing the game. Hop in a Tacteam or TWVoip squad and the players will welcome you - just don't be afraid to talk to them!

There are 2 completely separate terms - noob and newbie.
Newbie is a guy who's new to PR.
It's the guy who wants to learn how to play properly.
Everybody was a newbie once.
Then there are noobs.
Those are not willing to learn, they don't care how the game works and don't give a damn their way of playing is sabotaging team's effort (typical example would be soloing of vehicles).
As a beginner, the best you can do is read the quick manual that's on your desktop after installing PR. It covers all the essentials you'll need to know.
If you need to know more or you're unsure about something, don't be afraid to ask your squad.
If you meet an experienced player he will help you

.
Oh, and welcome to the community!

i wouldn't say PR is very noob or newbie friendly , but on the hole the PR player base is very newbie friendly.
as people have said, there is a difference between noobs amd newibes , ive had a alot of newbies in my squad which is to be expected with a new release and its fine, they say its there first day and to bare with them. so i explain our orders more detailed, explain why we are attacking/defending somewhere and thats fine.
then there are noobs who join my squad and constantly spawn at a different part of the map from the squad, non responsive, solo armour when we are infantry ect ect. these are the players PR and PR player base is not very welcome to.

The thing about noobs is some woun't take this game seriously, I'm not talking full dedication, im talking about getting serious so teamwork can actually work.
If you are eager to play, and will fullfill your role you have then you got nothing to worry about. Just take it slow and learn with the game.

New Players are welcome in the PR Community. But playing PR without reading the Manual and with asking basic Questions will give you an " Leave the Server and RTFM please" as answer. Sometimes a Kick if you asking too much or you fooling around. If you new to PR join on a Server and say
" Im new, i read the Manual but i dont understand how it works to......." you will get a friendly answer. Thats a Fact.

Read the manual, read the manual, read the manual. Helps more than most think. I've played PR in one of the earlier versions and just came back yesterday and finally getting used to some things. One thing, the training servers are for getting used to the mechanics, don't think you will get used to squad play because more often than not, people just **** around. Typical run and gun, at least from what I have SEEN.
Also, if there are any American clans that would like an extra player I'm looking to be submerged in an actual functioning squad. PM or xfire (reaper778 ) but PM is better. I'm Eastern Standard Time.

Ive found *some* servers/squads to be open to new players. Some are arrogent, some are just plan stupid, some (hard to find) squads will take the time to explain and help out, bring you upto speed on what the situation is, give you pointers etc.. but
If you plan on using Armor or Air assets.. try an empty training server, currently there are too meny idiots standing infront of vehicals/shooting pilots on the more populted.
Small arms.. just join a squad on a normal severis best, speek with the squad leader and let him/her no you need a few pointers(you new to the mod)... most out there will help... not all.

All these guys are absolutely correct in the things they are saying, hell I was a running qualification target when I started, I got shot by everybody and everything. But, we all get better. Another thing to do is, exactly what you are doing, get on the forum, and get to know all of the people here, they are good people. They get to know you, you get to know them, then you are recognized on the battlefield and you won't have any issues being in a squad.

I think we've realised this guy isn't a noob and I hope Wolfsprint has realised any 'newb' that's willing to learn and is up for some fun is welcome.
You've made the best first step by joining us on the forums. If you have doubts that the game isn't friendly to new guys, there's lots of help around. Kaffi ^ here is serving for real as many people here do and the PR staff
can be friendly so, thankfully, the smacktardiness is
quite low around here.
There's a button for the guide at the top of the page. ^ There's a downloadable manual in there with anything you should need to know to get started.
Play safe.

the word noob should be banned from the forum and hard coded into servers so guys that say it get banned
