did something happen to the hitboxes in 0.8?

Well as the title indicates, i'm wondering if something happened to either the hitboxes or the aiming itself. In 0.75 when i used the scope i usually managed to hit what I aimed at. Now i hardly hit anything anymore, no matter if i'm standing, crouching or lying on the ground. I read something about waiting before i pull the trigger so the soldier can steady his aim. Done that but i still get the same crappy result.

According to Wolfe, deviation is based on gameplay now, to create a more "epic" fire fight artificially, instead of having firefights that end in a few seconds.

i was under the impression that firefights DO end in a few seconds...

they really dont, as irl there is ballistics and battlefield stress so people dont insta prone headshot people

also irl people only have one life and value it rather than charging everytime

firefights usually last for a very long time. For example, recently 10 french soldiers were killed in Afganistan. Apparently also 13 taliban/insurgents. So a total of 23 people dead... and how long did this firefight last? Many hours. (one source says 3-4 hours, most just say several hours)

Firefights are not over in seconds because people actually care about staying alive, thus they tend to stay in cover instead of bunnyhopping their way to the enemy.

there's not reason for the mods to delete this since it's punkbuster approved, so:

BF2S Forums / BF2/2142 Hit reg fix

it's great, especially if you play on servers with really low or really high ping.
i've used it a long time with good results. it's not a cheat, it just just recounts your ping so that what you see on screen is adjusted to your latency, eliminating a lot of what vbf2 players call "dustshots". check this video:

Battlefield HitFixer Demonstration on Vimeo

this will increase the risk of shots you actually hit are being registrated. the deviation is another problem ;P

I lol'd.

The deviation does make for much better firefights but can be pretty annoying when you can't hit a guy in the open.

If you know the equations and console commands you can calculate values from your ping yourself and type them into console manually. That's why those variables exist in general.

yeah, it's not like it's a third person program that adds a lot of stuff to the game. it just helps you manage a lot of console commands that are already in the game instead of typing them youself.
i used to change the gisinterpolationtime in the usersettings file manually, but this is so much easier.

Ive been told by an ex para that the agerage length of a contact(firefight) in Afghanistan is 2-3 hours, mostly they end in the USAF or RAF dropping a bomb on the opposition after the soldiers get them supressed

is there something like that to do renderer.drawhud 0, demo.recorddemo etc more easily??

Just to be sure, 1) does that hitfixer.exe work, is it considered a hack (rather than a workaround), and if it is not considered illegal why isn't it part of the normal pr release?

well, how is it considered a hack when you want to actaually shoot at what your seeing? And i tried it, ALREADY LOVE IT, but question tho, do i have to enter my ping everytime it changes?

I played Ramiel today as insurgent. Had about 5 guys (at different times) I completely had in my sights at about 30 feet or less, crouched, put the ironsites right on them...after about the 5 bullet I put into them they turn and blow me away with their scoped rifles. Now I'm scared to even fire the SKS or AK since I'm likely to end up dead. I don't know if it's a server issue (I really really hope so) because the accuracy/hit detection is terrible especially on Ramiel. I hope it's a server issue.

How can I do this by just typing in the command? My ping is always about 100 on the server I play. I'd like to try it.

I have this problem too. I was playing Korengal and nabbed myself a sniper rifle. I perched on a roof for a good 30 seconds before spotting an insurgent. He was laying prone on the ground, not moving, and so I line my crosshairs just a sliver above his head and fire. The bullet hits the ground like 15 meters infront of him. If the devs consider this bullshit progress, then wow. I actually prefer the old deviation system, atleast that you could learn from.

I don't like randomness, and chance in my games. If I take the time to learn how they work I expect to get good at it. If I wanna play a game of chance I'll toss a quarter in the air endlessly. Honestly, can we get a dev to specificly lay out how this new deviation system works? Because as far as I tell, the bullet will just go off in a random direction, regardless of stance, or movement, or anything.

cause you can't use a value that works with everyone's ping and system. thebf2 default isn't optimal of all computers and connections

when you join a new server, enter the pings middle value if it fluctuates. my ping usually settles after a while.

pr team should make a sticky about this application tbh.
