Strike Bombers' Bombardiers (Quinling)

It isn't in the guide, and as the leader of a CAS Squad trying to spot for a bomber much frustration was had by all.
So far it appears that they can't pick up laser targets with either the missiles, or the bombs.
Can someone explain how it works.

yes, they can, but only the gunner can use the air to ground weapons.

You're missing what I'm asking. I understand only the gunner has access to the Air to Ground weapons, but how does he use them? It's not in the guide, and my gunners were unable to pick up Laser targets, and were unable to guide their missiles manually.
Could someone explain, or was it an elaborate bug?

they do lock onto laser designated targets via the soflam, your gunner was probably not looking in the right direction or the target was being hidden by trees or w/e.

thought i might as well break the ice and add something here.
i was flying around quinling for 45 minutes in a tornado and my gunner never saw any laser markers either, and we had ppl designating left right and center.
also while i'm at it, on the kasharn training map every jet seemed to be able drop bombs and have them explode under 500m. oh and why do a10s have AA missiles now? i was told CAS went a little awol in this release with the jets so maybe he'd like to chime in?

the LGBs shouldn't be able to detonate under 300m but heard one report they detonated under 150m thou dont think its been confirmed.
I've flown around in both the pilot and gunner seat of the tornado, in both public and testing and seen targets / seen my gunner hit designated targets.
Are you 100% sure the guys designating where doing it properly?
also the A-10 had AA missiles in .7

you can detonate the bombs on the training maps under 300m, havent tested on a normal map tho. a quick way to test it anyway its just to drop a bomb while the jet is on the ground (you'll blow yourself up), but i also tested it in the air by using the the rear cam to watch the explosion.
as for quinling, no im not 100% sure the designator's were doing it properly but we even had our SL marking with the soflam and putting an attack marker there so it would've been hard for the gunner to be looking the wrong way. but yeah idk maybe all the designators were noob :S

Yeah you gotta be careful with that designator thingy, it shoots a "projectile" out that tracks the cursor but the projectile moves relatively slow so you need to hold over the target until the "laser" sticks to it.

Was a on a local training server mind you

The bombs can explode under 300 meters, I've done it.
I think maybe they skid along the ground until armed or something, because it's not accurate at all and doesn't always work.
Also, has anyone else found that SAMs seem to miss aircraft a lot more now? It seems that flaring has become more effective at dodging them to the point where if a pilot does everything right, it's actually impossible to kill him without resorting to a plane of your own.
Thoughts?

Bombs dropped below 300 meters won't kill anybody but it'll still destroy destructible things.

Nothing new, it worked the same way in 0.75, choppers would release flares and no AA couldn't lock onto them due a huge amount of targets that the AA locked on or if a missile was fired, most would just spam the flares in huge amounts, since there's no delay on releasing the flares so you can drop all 30 in like 2 seconds if you want.
I also had situations in 0.75 where I would fire a missile towards a jet with a perfect lock-on and the pilot dropped
one flare and the missile locked onto that, wtf!!!

I've found that it now doesn't matter whether I was hard locked when I fired, my missiles don't like hitting irrespective of whether they flared once or a dozen times. Btw, my missile is already out by the time they flare, but where is the love?

There is NO DELAY in real life.
Look helicopters and jets videos you will se no delay there. Or play advanced simulators like Lock On, or see videos like previews of Black Shark and you will se that there is no delay for combat choppers.

I think CAS was saying in another thread that the bombs don't arm after a certain altitude, it is now a certain time - 3 Seconds.
So if you come down vertically you have to drop your bombs higher than if you drop horizontally where you can drop from 150 meters.
Or so I've heard.

should't we get chaff and flares in planes depending on who we are against. MEC who are a third world muslim group should use low cost heat seekig missiles while the US would use radar guided.

Ffs..... MEC are not insurgents or Militia. They are a highly trained and well supplies army. Just like USA, Russia, China, etc..

For a start, thats complete bollocks. The MEC are NOT 3rd world. Just because someone speaks arabic does not mean that theyre penniless and live in a shack. In fact, theyre probably richer than the US seeing how much debt the US is in to the saudis.
At the OP, i honestly dont find this to be the case. Me and nickbond were flying around Qinling the other day in the tornado, we must have racked up about 40+ kills between us with Mongol acting as dedicated FAC and lasing targets.
AA is stupidly effective if you know how to use it. As of the current release im fairly sure that the lock tones of AA missiles are differentiated depending on type. Radar-guided (so AIM-120s, fixed AA, AAVs etc) give the pilot a tone when locked, but infrared guided (sidewinders, MANPADs etc) only give a lock tone to the pilot when in flight. The trick is to know when to use each in differing situations and develop tactics for both. I may be completely wrong here, but this is my experience with AA in 0.8 so far.
