I was going to post this in this thread:

But it got axed. Most of you probably already know/do this, but I am reiterating this for everyone else.

If you want variable speeds, and you have a joystick (or xbox controller/gamepad for that matter) just set the alternative forward key for vehicles to your pitch axis on your joystick, this will allow you to have a range of speeds from walking to "oh shi- get the fuck out of here" depending on how far forward or backward you depress your joystick.

You can also do this with a throttle, but with a throttle it's harder to stop, or get zero speed, and if you forget it on full forward you'll run over friendlies.

I use this feature on boats and its good for making those sharp turns and all without stopping, too bad nobody rides in the boat...

Using joystick for driving makes for fun left-right hand combination, seeing how you usually use your dominant hand for both the mouse and the joystick... But, it can be somewhat useful.

People wanted variable speeds, this is the way to do it for whoever wants to, it does not really matter how many people do it, just as long as they know that if they want variable speeds they can do it in a easy way, as long as they have something with a pressure sensitive input
