Hi i'm new to this mod, and this forum, umm.. my question is exactly what the title saids... i'm asking this because i see that the maps are very large, and my PC sometimes have problems with running really large and high detailed maps. and by the way GREAT MOD!!!!

Im not sure about the CPUs but i do know that PR does need a better graphics card(GPU) and more ram to run it well, so i would not be surprised if it does need a better CPU to run it well.

"Project Reality uses more effects, more code, includes larger maps, with more objects, which is taxing on systems. As such, the recommended specifications are higher than that of standard BF2."-Taken from the Wikipedia page for Project Reality:
Project Reality - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Minimum Specification:
* CPU: 1.7 GHz
* RAM: 1 GB
* Video Card with at least 128 MB of RAM
Recommended Specification:
* CPU: 2.4 GHz
* RAM: 2 GB
* Video Card with at least 256 MB of RAM

Yea that's pretty much the case: the high cpu clock is needed if AI
is involved,like PRSP (single player) or vBF2 single player. All the
bots need to be controlled.
Also depending on the resolution your video card needs to be fed data
rapidly and fast cpu helps.
However it is much better to have a "higher" end GPU (video) and "slow"
cpu, then super fast cpu and "slow" GPU.
Also 512mb of video ram is a must,I would say,2gb of "main" ram for WinXP and 4gb for Vista.
For example a dual core cpu at 2.00ghz and say 8800gt is much,much better then a Quad core @ 3.6ghz and 8500gt.

Since the game is a couple of years old, the question is always whether you can assume a dedicated gamer will have upgraded his machinery to more modern spec. Whilst you don't need the highest there is out there every time something new comes out, the mod does put more pressure on a pc.
Vanilla (retail version) BF2 had highly optimised maps allowing a wide range of pc's to play, to ensure a larger player base. The PR Devs have attempted to squeeze a lot more into their maps, to ensure fun gaming. Although the testing team does have a range of pc's between them so optimisation can be checked for the player base in general. It can become a fine line though.

Well before i was running the game on Medium Setting ( during 0.7 ) whit a AMD 3500+ 2.4Ghz , 6600GT 256M and 768Meg of ram it was running quite well... then i change my pc to switch on AMD6000+ , 2 8800GTS 640 and 4 Gig of ram and it run awesomely quick. Every thing on max i can load Kashan in 20 seconds compared to 50-60's on my old pc. From Desktop to Ingame i take less than 2 min =D.
From barely correct to awesome PC, PR always run fine for me. Just need to set the graphic at the capacity of you're GPU and close all those running thing in you're pc that are useless for gaming.

shouldnt be too much stress on your CPU. it runs fine on my 3500+ but due to the large amounts of texture and fast rendering times needed for the large amounts of trees, buildings etc.. you need a graphics card with at least 256mb to run well.. (i got away with a 128mb 9800pro for a while) and any amount of ram over 1.5gb.
