BMP-2 - Any chance to ever see this in PR?

Well, the title states it pretty much, I'd like to know if there are any plans the include the good old stubborn BMP-2 in the future as it is still one of the most used IFV's in PR's OPFORs or possible OPFORs. Not that there is anything wrong with the BMP-3, it's awesome but still I'd like to see something between the BRDM and the BMP-3. I won't demand anything, just would like to know

lol looks pretty cruddy. i could see it rolling out onto kashan and then 10 seconds after it started moving the engine drops out of the bottom of it or something. reminds me of one of those 3 wheeled cars from Mr Bean.

Would make a nice addition to the militia vehicles. And of course the Russians (on pictures and videos of ruskies fighting in Chechnya and other parts of the Caucasus they are almost always accompanied by BMP-2s).

Seeing as they appear as wrecks all over it'd be nice to have them in game as well :-D

I don't think they share any of their models with other mods.

Surely they do a model exchange for something they want.

I wonder if the new vodnik with 14mm will replace the bdrm, it has closed back doors and floats so would be a fair counter to stryker?

Not to rain on anyones parade here, but the "BMP-2" you're referring to does not exist in Project Reality nor in the aspect of wrecks either. But instead the wreck pictured that you may be referring to is actually a BMD-1P.

BMD-1P (Front Right Side)
<Note: Notice the "v-shaped grill" on the front of the BMD, the BMP series does not have this.>

Image

BMD-1P (Rear Left Side)
<Note: Notice the irregular engine section on the BMD, the BMP series has a flat back end with two exit doors.>

The main purpose of the BMD series was to provide an air transportable APC to the front lines. It can be carried by both transport aircraft and helicopters. The BMD is light, compact, amphibious and capable of carrying a small squad. The well known BMP series is larger and heavier. As we all know, specification limitations does not make BMD's comfortable for thier occupants like thier full-size cousins.

The BMD-1P variant has a 73mm smoothbore cannon which is capable of firing quite a few different rounds including a 7.62mm COAX. It also has a AT-4 Spigot guided missle launcher. The BMD-1P has a 2 man crew and capable of carrying 5-6 soldiers.

The BMD-2 variant has a 30mm automatic gun (Like seen on BTR-90's and even the Mi-28 Havok.) and a 7.62mm COAX. It also has a AT-4 Spigot or AT-5 Spandrel guided missle launcher depending on load-out. The BMD-2 has a 2 man crew and capable of carrying 8 soldiers.

Then again... As long as USI is still around we'll have plenty of models to work with.

Of course I'm still trying to figure out why we're working on a CH-47 Chinook as it will be nowhere capable of performing its true potential. Just the way the Battlefield 2 engine is, thusly becoming a matter that is out of our hands.

On another note, if your seeking additional information... Here's a little exerpt from an older post if you're still intrested in knowing about the BMP-1 and BMP-2.
It comes down to a few things. Take note of the difference in armament, crew positions and amount of infantry capable of being carried on board.
Image

BMP-1
<Note: I do not suggest this version to be utilized as it's based more upon the Anti-Vehicular role and less suited for Anti-Infantry.>
Image

Armed with a main 73mm rocket cannon, 7.62mm PKT coaxial machinegun and a external AT-3 SAGGER ATGM (Anti-Tank Guided Missle, controlled by wire.) mounted directly above and parallel to the main cannon.

Ammo load-out: 40 x 73mm, 2000 x 7.62mm, 4 x SAGGER.
Ammo Types: 73mm HEAT-FS (HEAT, Fin-Stablized, Rocket Assisted), 73mm HE-Frag (High Explosive, Fragmentation, Rocket Assisted.)
Stabilized Gun - No.

The main 73mm rocket cannon has a maximum potential fire rate of 10 rounds per minute, basically 1 shot per 6 seconds. The main rocket cannon of the BMP-1 is strange as it fires the same ammunition as the RPG-7 infantry rocket propelled grenade launcher.

The AT-3 SAGGER ATGM is mounted above the main cannon and can be fired from the inside of the vehicle. The BMP-1 must remain stationary while firing and guiding the missle. However this missle is not as potent as the superior AT-4 SPIGOT ATGM.

BMP-1P
<Note: I do not suggest this version to be utilized as it's based more upon the Anti-Vehicular role and less suited for Anti-Infantry.>
Image

Armed with a main 73mm rocket cannon, 7.62mm PKT coaxial machinegun and a external AT-4 SPIGOT ATGM (Anti-Tank Guided Missle, controlled by wire.) which is mounted ontop of the turret.

Ammo load-out: 40 x 73mm, 2000 x 7.62mm, 4 x SPIGOT.

The AT-4 SPIGOT ATGM is mounted above the turret and a crewman must fire the ATGM from outside the vehicle. This makes him vulnerable to small arms fire. The BMP-1 must remain stationary while firing and guiding the missle.

BMP-2
<Note: I suggest this version to be utilized as it's balanced between Anti-Vehicular and an Anti-Infantry role.>
Image

Armed with a main 30mm automatic cannon, 7.62mm PKT coaxial machinegun and a external AT-4 SPIGOT ATGM (Anti-Tank Guided Missle, controlled by wire.) which is mounted ontop of the turret.

Ammo load-out: 500 x 30mm, 2000 x 7.62, 4 x SPIGOT.
Ammo Types: 30mm AP and AP-T (Armor Piercing and Armor Piercing, Tracer), HE and HE-T (High Explosive Fragmentation and High Explosive Fragmentation, Tracer.)
Stabilized Gun - Yes.

The main 30mm automatic cannon has a maximum cyclic fire rate of 550 rounds per minute. However burst firing within a range of 200-300 rounds per minute is most practical.

The AT-4 SPIGOT ATGM is mounted above the turret and can be fired from the inside of the vehicle. The BMP-2 must remain stationary while firing and guiding the missle.
