Material piercing bullets

Ok ok, before anyone says it, yes this subject has been covered before. But I had an idea and I'm not inclined to go trudging through the countless threads to see if someones allready mentioned it. So you guys will just have to deal with the ten seconds it takes to tell me it's been said before
ANYWAYS, I was watching Future Weapons, talkin bout sniper rifles. And it reminded me of vanilla BF2, where you could get the sniper upgrade that allowed you to shoot through bullet proof glass, so you could kill pilots of helis n jets. Now, no other weapon could pierce the glass, but the upgraded sniper could. So I'm wondering if such properties could be given to everything?
Make it so a normal assault rifle couldn't shoot through that brick wall, but a .50 cal could. Is this possible? If not why? And how does it work on the aircraft?

Okay, afaik thats all possible. You can make guns able to shoot through walls, windows, anything, but it seems to be a hell of a lot of coding and a bit buggy (if you can shoot throuch walls, you can shoot right through any indestructible building, no matter how far you're away, as long as the weapon is "strong enough").

It is possible, but there are a lot of factors involved so implementation has and will take a long time.
To a limited extent, penetration is already included in PR.

Ah, ok. Well it'll be nice once it's in, nothing better then being a sniper and laughing as the insurgent in the house is bitching on open chat

As if the sniped one would even notice where the shot came from
Still, the game doesnt make a difference between a 2mm thick wall and a 2m thick wall.

it does if the 2mm wall has a diferent material than the 2m wall .

Yes, thats what i said before. But making a material for every single object size would be a bit too much to ask for i think^^
Though of course I'd like to see more material penetration in game, in addition to what we have already, as long as we dont have the problem with a 9mm shooting through a whole building.

Actually, if this is a realism mod, that would be a huge thing to work towards, and well worth it, considering it's possible.

it would be very possible to have realistic penetration in pr, There is alot of code that would allow you to add bullet deivation after it passes though a material, slow the bullet down, reduce damage, ect. Overall i think it would be a great project but it would take a extreamly long time to get it working for most materials.

Yea there is some of this already, the destructible buildings, tin fences and the wooden buildings like train on fools road all allow bullets to pass through.
Its a bit simple though, like the pistol remains fully lethal after firing through a wall when really that should be something reserved for the ak, etc
Obviously it should apply to most of the light vehicles too but it doesnt, which allows one guy in a vodnik to drive at full speed straight through a roadblock or front line while taking heavy fire. I think thats why the doors were left open
Would be good if this could be implemented like the kevlar is handled, 3 grades of material reducing damage gradually, not on or off
