This would indeed be petty interesting

The problem is that once people start dying, considerable amounts of effort would be spent getting them back to the fight. It'd be 2 minutes of convoy escorting and 10 minutes attempting to link up with the convoy again... Or 2 minutes of the convoy falling back and waiting for everyone to respawn and rejoin it

This is the old VIP mode was pretty much.
I'd like it back, but it's up to the devs.
Anyway, this thread is really more like a suggestion than general discussion.

Some time ago the devs said they were gonna reintroduce the Extraction mode which was pretty much the same, getting a VIP car or person from one point to another. Although not played much is was a very cool gametype, and hopefully it will be in some future version.

If anybody remembers like .4, we actually had this game mode. The US had to escort an armored SUV from one base to another base on another side of the map. It's probably all being considered by the devs.

EDIT: Just listened to that interview and I have this to say: I would expect VIP whenever they finish up scenario mode, which, atm, is looking like .85. Just my guess though.

Still remember the Basrah SUV extraction mode.
It lagged sooooo much.

I would like to see a VIP escort with more than 2 Suburban suvs.
like a proper VIP escort. A couple of humvees in front and back, 3 SUVs and on APC escorting them. Plus a couple of Choppers.
Perhaps an escort mission from a city center to an Airport.

I never liked VIP that much, everyone just seemed to run around crazy most of the time.

I liked VIP mode when it was about. But it was pretty plain, would love to see it back but it needs some work for it to work properly I think.

It's good, but what it needs are Gun Trucks. This was discussed earlier, and if you've played Mercenaries 2 you'll have a better idea of what I'm talking about.
