Counter-strike source anyone?

While playing PR 0.8 today, with some friends in NATO, it occured to us, that Counter-strike has more realistic bullet deviation, and you have the ability to move faster.
It has gotten to the point of more luck than skill, it is no longer a game so much as a randomn number generator.
Has anyone else considered this?
(Not trying to start a flame war! I used to enjoy PR

and still, but I'd like to discuss the realism of various popular games

)

Wait. We are discussing the realism of counter strike, did i get that right? What exactly does that have to do with PR or... anything?

Its a discussion based upon the realism of the current accuracy and weapon system, using counter strike as a comparative. It has everything to do with PR

Mh... okay, I'll try.
Well, from what I've seen about Counter Strike (noone got me to play CSS yet) it looks like anything but realistic to be honest. Of course the best way to simulate "deviation" is simple weapon sway, so all games with no crosshairs, realistic weapon sway and ballistics would beat PR in that point.

please remember the source engine does not allow for bullet drop. (crossbow excluded)

I do agree that bullets go alot more faster in CSS than in PR (judging by the fact that by some miracle I can actually see my bullet flying right after i shoot from a scoped weapon....and thats supposed to be imposibble in RL). And i do agree its more luck than skill now as it all depends on where the bullet might wind up so even a dude that can hardly look 2 meters away from himself can hit you after a dozen of shots in your general direction

Well bosco, at least in counter-strike, if you go round a corner without checking it, thats you dead, (like rl) however in PR, you can go around a corner have a clip emptied at you, and stand, return fire with another clip, and still both charge in with knives.

but to that point, it is about skill
but it's a different type of skill
it's the skill to be hidden, to not be seen, to stealthfully take out your enemy.
The skill to suppress and flank the enemy, the skill to place assets in a proper place to allow for maximum defense and offense, the skill to cooperate with the squad, the rest of the team. The skill of communication. The skill of priorities.
You see, what you see is the skills of running up and clicking faster and running faster than others.
What i see is the skill for a group of people to communicate and work together to defeat a common enemy and accomplish a common goal.
That has been said many times and is the basis for why PR is a better FPS than many others out there.
PR requires a lot of social skills, like being able to tell someone that an idea is bad, but follow through with it anyways cause otherwise the plan WILL fail.
And social skills is something that as of late has been in decline, especially if you bring up America.
And about the Counter-Strike Source being more realistic....
I would say something about drugs, but i fear that would be considered insulting and i would get a demerit on the forums.

The skill required is not shooting, but getting into the better position... Now, should i really post this? I guess you know that already and asume that both shooters have equal positions.
I think too much.
Edit: No, i dont think enough. Ninja'd

I started playing CS around ver 1.3 I think and used to love it (won't waste time on it now) but no way is it realistic.
If you think BF2 + mods has a problem with people using cheats then you haven't seen nothing until you see anything valve/source.
Only thing it has going for it over BF2 engine is 1st person view in spectate so it is easy to spot a cheat.
Insurgency mod is on the same engine and that never kicked off properly. I gave it a good go believe me but it never kept me interested.

sorry for double post.. but
o.o are you kidding me? I have a clip emptied at me i'm usually dead
Obviously you suck at aiming then, or maybe everyone is just better i don't know.. But some people are amazing with the PR bullets....
(except the shotgun... shotgun is terrible no matter how you look at it)

Yeah, but when it comes down to the posistions, I might be on a roof-top, waiting for 3 seconds for a shot, bang. It misses, they return fire full-auto, at 50m or so, they still get me, whats up with that?
I was playing earlier today, I got shot first, I hit the dirt, and just shot in their general direction, I was blinded by surpression, what happened? I killed the guy.
Its too much luck now imo. And the realism has gone out the window it seems (With CQC at least).
Also, I do not suck at aiming, on most of the servers I go on, I'm normally within the top 5, so do not try and bait me with petty insults based on your ignorance.
I'm just saying, 0.7, I was more satisfied with the realism of deviation and accuracy.
