Earlier this evening playing on "the battle arena - Muttrah" server I was standing on top of a building shooting up some enemies below when all of a sudden I was transported so I was around 200 metres in mid-air and then dropped from that height. Naturally i died and was obviously very irritated so I was wondering if this was a bug or a hack by a member of the opposing team? Any ideas welcome.

Sounds like BA Admins have a new toy..or found out what that button does...

Epoch occasioanly turns the grav off on our server when it sjust T+t online then lets us fall.... his laugh on TS is... sadistic lol

I heard cases of this on smacktards at T&T. Prediction: epoch.uk was online, and some TKing pilot on Op. Barracuda was messing about. Later, in chat, the pilot was complaining of being flipped into the air.

New admin tool? If so, epic way to deal with them. *ponders when thebattlearena will have BattleRecorder back to witness the event*

Update: vvv No wonder so many people want to be admins.

It's a BF2CC command (fling) which allows the admin to toss the player into the air to a defined height, so that they plummet to their death.

Funny when used sparingly, or when having a general 'muck about' on the server, but not really wise to use it all the time because it would lead to complaints etc.

I recall the incident you're referring to Cyrax. A pilot TKd for a chopper, so an admin flung him a few times. The pilot then asked on global chat "Who keeps tossing me?!". My how everyone laughed.

Battlearena probably used the same command.

You can do other things in BF2 - such as change the gravity - using RCON, but again that's not really suitable for public play. Warns/kicks/bans are more appropriate.

I was in a tank once when one of the Admins flung my driver cause of his mouth, the whole freaking Challenger 2 shot 200 feet into the air, plumeted back to earth, bounced about 20 feet back up, landed, and kept on driving, it was hilarious!

in 0.6 a APC i shot at flew about 300m in the air and flew on a Merlin nearby. 2 birds with 1 round.

Lol funny tales, i dont remember epoch being on the server but i'll watch out from now on lol! To be fair I was shooting guys as they spawned on a RP but still was funny.

its no admin tool, its extreme bunnyhopping.

I know one Sandbox server had let people use a similar command on themselves, you typed @ju 1234 and it would throw you to that height.

But nothing beats the Sandbox gravity setting I remember setting the gravity so gentle I jumped once and never touched the ground again

It's an awesome admin tool. It works best if you can make the admin do it to you if you get a pilot kit.
