I am not going to write long winded explanation this time stating why I think it should be returned. No I'm just gonna ask a question. Why Did the Engy get his C4 replaced in favor of the tripflare?

Because c4 is bad game play. Spec-ops still has c4.

Late edit: Timed c4 might be considered.

A better reason?

The only reason.

Oh. You wanna a real answer?

The engineer is supposed to build dispensers, turrets, and teleporters. A while back ,I was suggesting the spec-ops name should be DemoMan.

Well that's not good enough. Tripflares are useless on most occasions, and C4 was so useful against enemy buildables. How the hell Are we supposed to destroy an enemy base, when the Only spec-ops is effing around in the enemy's main? Light At? Nope some other squads have em or 5 minutes aint up yet. Heavy At? Too slow and a waste against non-armor.

Knife the radios 3 times and run. We don't want players at enemies main. In-fact devs almost added a dome of death around enemies main. Notice that most maps already have shifted their last cap away from the main spawn.

Hopefully, they'll change the name from spec-ops to combat engineer.

You should send the Computer Hacker class and disable their radios. Then the bunkers will be unspawnable.

Not talking about being in Enemy main. Say your squad comes across an Enemy base right before a cp, How are you going to take out all the Installations, such as .50 cal emplacement, Barbed wire thats blocking your way, or sandbags? Spec-Ops is in main, Light/Heavy At you don't have.

Tell me how am I supposed to destroy these things without Explosives?

I think the engy should get a SLAM type explosive and not in sufficient numbers to destroy a tank

why?

because 1) c4 was being used too much for ambushing 2) armies of suicide engineers would assualt tanks

.50 cal emplacement- kill the guy on it

Barbed wire thats blocking your way- drive through it or work your way around

Sandbags- last I checked, a sandbag isn't much of a threat with out a enemy behind it.

I understand that in very rare cases a sand bag and a barb wire way in the way of your entrance. Rarely now does it actually happen.

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.

I always destroy enemy stationary weapons after what happened to me when I left a .50 up in kashan.

Sneaky Sl's will position the Wire so you can only go out not in.

Sandbag blocakde will stop a Hummer dead.

Nope. Happened last night.

I always destroy enemy stationary weapons after what happened to me when I left a .50 up in kashan.- what, what happened? someone jumped back on it and killed you? should have secured the area better then. there already a delay when hopping on the stationarys.

cool, ive never heard of going out a barbed wire but not in

lol its kashan. where do you plan on taking your humvee that driving around wont solve.

Like I said I could'nt.

I mean by blocking off exits with wire, and using elevated platforms to jump down from to get out.

Was'nt Kashan, was muttrah, entire West city was blocked off to vehicles.

muttrah is a giant effing city, no road block would ever block all the entrances

What about in insurgency, the only kit that can blow up the caches easily, is limited? Multiple times I've seen brit/us troops camping caches, most likely waiting for the spec-op to get there. Slam charges would work fine. But one of the unlimited kits needs some demolitions.

DavidP.. there ia a very good reason why C4 was removed.

It generated crappy arcady gameplay that the DEV team detest.

As much fun as it is chasing a tank with C4 in hand.... or running blindly at an enemy bunker with C4 in hand.. it was shit game play, unrealistic and just not PR.

Sure there have been some side effects, but these are easily over come with a little teamwork.

Out of 32 players.. having two with the capabilities to destroy and blow stuff up sounds about right to me. I don't see a need for more, and i've normally been able to get a Special Forces kit when i actually need it... which is bloody rarely.

I've said this before and I say it again: engineer build, repair and blow up things, drive heavy trucks and lay mines. End of story. The current engineer loadout is more like an ubly mix of sniper/marksman and regular grunt.

In real world they do blow up bridges - and it's damn important to do so in order to stop enemy form advancing or forcing them to use alternate routes. They are the only class who is properly trained to use explosives effectively against static objects. They are also the only class with the equipment and know-how to build heavy shelters, like bunkers.

Basically, engineer does these things:
- Helps friendly troops' movement by destroying or overcoming obtacles and driving transport trucks
- Prevents enemy advance by laying mine fields, blowing up bridges and blocking narrow canyons.
- Repairs friendly vehicles and assets
- Builds bunkers and other assets
- Destroys enemy bunkers and assets like deployed .50 cals and AA-stations.
