Ok I am effing tired of this! I have tried that thing where you use a bat file to start up but after I tried it and tried to change servers IT DID IT AGAIN! What is wrong here?!

I would imagine that if it was fixed you'd know about it. Hopefully, it's being investigated. Constructive threads at least suggest a possible work around or fix. And then there are threads like this...

One work around is as follows:
- locate the [pb] root folder in the BF2 root folder
- uninstall the pb-service via pbsvc.exe
- delete the content of the folder except pbsetup.exe & pbsvc.exe
(otherwise you have to re-download it)
- install the pb-service via pbsvc.exe and
- update via pbsetup.exe

This is working for me and lots of others.
If you run Vista this only applies if you managed to grant PB admin rights.
cheers

That is not enough.

The pbsvc.exe creates the PnkBstrB.exe of COD2, so launch game, launch map, get kicked.
Then go to Battlefield 2/pb and copy PnkBstrB.exe to system32 and PnkBstrK.sys to system32/drivers and restart the service.

After rebooting the PnkBstrB.exe is gone again.

There is a RivaTuner issue for some players.

But that all SUCKS.

Maybe. But will it work tomorrow or the day after that? Restart your computer and see if you can a join server and see if you get the PB handshaking error.

Today new RivaTuner came out, perhaps the issue is gone.

BTW my PnkBstrB.exe in services is gone again after a reboot.

So again the workaround.

Yeah, PnkBstrB.exe in the Services always disappears after I restart but PnkBsterA is still there. Why?

I must always start PR at least 2 times to get rid of this problem. No other BF2 mod has the same problem. Can it be related to PR exe?

Well, I just had a PB handshake error in vBF2 yesterday so it's not a PR problem.

I don't have a pbsvc.exe, usually the PB security file disappears and it seemed that it was linked somehow, but it's still there and I just got the bug...

Well I am getting high number of "handshaking failures". I'm really at my wits end here with PB. In the last 5 games I've tried to join in 2 days I've been rejected about 4. *sigh* maybe I can get 1 game in today...or maybe not. Fix your s..t PB this is getting old.

Look at the third quote down in Fuzz's first post, all needed files explained and sourced.

I have to do what his second post says every time before I play PR.
