when ever you drop an ied to fast you cant use the detonator.

Not really a bug, you have to wait a couple of seconds before you can blow it up. Sometimes you put it down too fast and it detonates it, but since you cant detonate it for a couple of seconds, the IED goes away. This happens with C4 and IEDs and other remotely detonated explosives.

No sometimes when you lay it down you just wont pull out the cell phone. You can't help it.

Ive had this a few times too, but i belief it just takes much longer to get it out... for some reason.

Actually the bug is if you do multiple clicks while placing an IED or C4 it will not switch to the detonator ever. You can stay alive for two more hours and you'll never be able to get to the detonator. I believe it might interpret the second click as the detonator being used but it doesn't actually detonate unless the animation completes and thus you cannot switch back to it.

Nah it's a feature.

I've had this bug as well. From my experience, the bug has appeared when I try to IED vehicles, both drivable and non-drivable ones. But I guess the explaination given by Solid Knight above is the right one, and in my cases of "car-rigging" the excitement of the situation has gone to my head, making me click the left mousebutton like crazy.

The IED has to hit the ground before it arms, if it's in midair it won't detonate.
