Warnings and missiles

I'm wondering how an optically tracked missile such as TOW, Eryx or SRAW is supposed to set off a laser warning, since the weapon doesn't emit any kind of laser energy. Even Stingers shouldn't do that, since they have passive seekers (IR).

The only weapons(systems) that should set off warnings are Fighters' AGMs (and that's if they're supposed to represent laser-guided variants as opposed to Imaging IR, or TV-guided). Helicopters' ATGMs, Other tanks and IFVs (laser rangefinder), and Mobile AA.

Although I agree with this, I don't think warnings will be removed. It would make tankers go bonkers, and the DEVs try their best to appease all players, even if it means sacrificing realism.

It kind of is like a tank commander for you (that never misses a missle aimed at you)

There are also so missle/rocket detection systems that don't only rely on laser warnings, some have IR warnings and probably some other nifty ways of detecting incoming AT rounds.

Please note that we're working to get the Mod to the most realistic state that gameplay (which includes balancing) will allow.

Remember that this is always a balancing act, and we have to nail it down correctly so that the entire community will love it.

Anyways. I do like your idea about the warnings and makes a lot of sense, but I don't know what the other devs will think about your post.

i WISH the missiles the anti tank class has where not guided and even if they where the missile tavels so fast, there is no time, space to guide in on the small bf2 maps. The latest NLAW missile can travel a long long way in 2 seconds, probally 3 times futher than the average engagement in bf2. And if missles where not guided yu could probaly get rid of the warning thingy on tanks.

How often do you see Middle Eastern Armies carrying around guied anti tank rockets? I would like to see the RPG 7 come into play somehow, whether you make a light AT class, or give them more rockets, or maybe a PDW. IDK i jsut think it would be fun to use the RPG

MEC aren't Insurgents.

Sorry but is there a dictionary definition stating that all Arabs equipped with guns are either called insurgents or terrorists? No

He didn't say they were insurgents but he did have a point.

I don't think that there are many Middle Eastern ARMIES with AT systems with guidance capabilities....

i agree with removing warning sounds from AT towards tanks/apcs, since in PRMM you can zoom while in a tank/apc, AT class has almost no chance, the first rocket will hit and then he knows where you are and with the zoom he'll sniper ur ***. thats where i think its unbalanced, if they didnt have zoom they wouldnt see as good so it would be harder to aim.
