Remove zoom from iron sights.

I know this has been brought up before but it seems like something so simple to change and it gets ignored each release.

When you look down the sights of a rifle your vision does not magnify what you are looking at, so why should it do so in PRMM when you bring up the iron sights? It should not.

This is why weapons have optics on them.

Any dev comments on this?

i would love it if they were smaller, with out the zoom and also with a blur effect around the edge (seeing as you can only focus on somthing like 3% of you total view field I.E you only see clearly 3% of your view point)

like said before, its ment to show that when you zoom down a site you are more concntrated on your shot. But it would be best to take it off.

Ha, I was just reading a review of another game (which goal was to be the most realistic WW2 game ever) and it was saying that the only bad thing was that there was no zoom on the Iron Sites. The review said that BF2 was the game that got it right.

To say that its meant to show you are concentrating is nonsense, as with or without zoom you are still able to concentrate on what you are aiming at.

How hard can it be to take the zoom out? It should be taken out for the next version of prmm.

The zoom does not realy bother me. If it wasnt there it would not bother me either. But you should not blur the rest of the screen. I constantly move with the iron sites up if I think I am going to incounter something. I think of it as moving with both eyes open.

i think it somewhat compromises for the limitations of vision and perception in a computer game, but yeh, take it out and see what its like

bad idea, u walk very slow, unless you want to walk slow ofcourse but for close combat its a bad idea.

"depth of field" is the keyword, but this i think this is not an easy job to implement.

it should be slightly narrower.

I think taking the zoom out would be good, i mean theres no crosshair and to be honest in CQB it's bloody near impossible to effectivley move around while your zoomed right in, this really brings up the issue of kits, and using them effectivley, say a medic wouldn't have any type of optics, and therefore would need sniper or designated marksman support to effectively take out longe range targets.
When dice ( and EA ) made BF2, they weren't exactly catering for realistic mods, they put in crosshairs and then the iron sight for classes without scopes to give them a slightly more accurate ( and zoomed ) option to just crosshairs.
Take out the zoooooooom!

everyone go buy 42, and dl XWW2. thier iron sights look like bf2 iron sights, but there is a rough semi circle that is about an inch in raidus extruding fro mthe aim point. beyond this point, the screen is colored whitish grayish. you can only see the very middle of you're screen.

hopefully something like this could be done, and hopeuflly it could be done with very light blur effects instead of whiteness.

i doubt DoF will ever be seen in bf2, hl2 engine only...

Exactly, BUT I say keep it, you can not hold a gun tighter in-game... so you have to compremise - I say keep the zoom, it increases you shot ever so slightly to give for the more consentration and tighter grip on the weapon in real life.

the zoom is very annoying in CQC and it eliminates your perifrial vision

So if one is to take out the zoom of Iron-sights (I like the zoom), then for sure the zoom of mounted MGs must go too?? The zoom there annoys me more. I can understand the tank and APC having some technical dohickey that can zoom, but the plan mechanical MGs, no way. Thoughts?

I agree that zoom should probably be taken out, but I don't know about implementing a depth of field around the iron sights. I've always had a problem with depth of field on iron sights because it limits the player. The computer doesn't know what you are looking at, so the blur effect is always there, which means you can't look off to the side of your iron sights like you would be able to in real life.
