[HOWTO]Land all the jets

Method for EF2000 + J10
1) Use a Joystick with a throttle
2) Put a marker on the end of the runway you intend to land on
3)When thinking about landing, fly at roughly 70% throttle. This keeps your speed closer to what we'll be using for our approach, but not so slow we'll have problems flying.
3) When ready to land, give yourself at least 1500m of space and cut throttle to 40%. Orientate yourself with the runway and fly towards the marker at an altitude of 200ft. Make sure you stay at roughly 200ft until you see the runway (in the j10 you will have to pull back on the stick a little to maintain alt)
4) When you see the runway, dive towards it. When you are approx 100m away, cut the throttle.
5) About 10ft above the runway, flare by pulling back on the stick. Hopefully the nose will come up but the plane will keep dropping. This is perfect. This kills a lot of speed and puts you in the correct landing position, which for max style points should see your rear wheels touch down just before the nosewheel.
6) On the Runway, when your speed drops below roughly 450 knots, pull back on the stick to activate the brakes.
7)Once stopped, pop the canopy and light up the victory cigar.
Easy. Even in the J10
Method for A10
Same as above except a few differences that will be outlined here:
Approach at 55% power at around 130-150alt. Make sure you maintain altitude
When the marker you laid at the end of the runway is reading 500m drop the nose to point at the marker so you are flying down towards the close end of the runway.
At 300m from the marker cut the throttle and begin to softly flare at 200m.
If all goes to plan you should gently float over the runway and touch down rear wheels first.
*The A10 is very easy to land so there are a million ways to do it. This way should get you the nice flare on touchdown rather than the more common method of belly flopping the last 10 feet!*

Heres how to land the A10 if you use the keyboard only
1) Lineup with the runway
2) Speed down to 700 with 45-50% Power (Do this by tapping W)
3) Don't come in low, come in high, you can land on your front gears and not take any damage
4) When your close to the runway hold down D to get down to around 600 speed when you touchdown
5) Once your speed gets to 300 press the down arrow to slow down even faster
6) Once stopped, pop the canopy and light up the victory cigar. <-

N1 Panzar, thats exactly the same approach, but harder for the keyboard guys as it requires concentration to hold a particular speed.
I think the key to landing jets is not to treat them like real life aeroplanes. Real planes glide very nicely on approach. These dont. Likewise diving in PR doesent increase your speed much at all, so the general idea is to come in high and slow, dive in to the runway and cut throttle. Do it right and you are high enough to miss the pesky fences, but slow enough to stop well before the end of the runway. Once you've got this weird way of flying into your head its a piece of piss

Yep, but remember, dont come in to high or you'll just faceplant into the ground

the pilots greatest fear...
faceplant

Also, for your original post, step 5 is almost nearly impossible.
Because the BF2 engine means that if your nose is up you go up, I'v actually landed on my backwheels once then the front wheel by coming in from a big alt (somewhere around 600) and touching down on the runway when your swooping down, very risky.

Nah, go do it in the EF2000 or the J10. Its very easy. The F16 + MiG want to land on their nosewheels more.....

Can this be used for the harrier as well? I have NEVER (except for one time out of bounds, couldn't enjoy the success very long) managed to land a harrier. Or is it even meant to be landable? Tips and instructions are welcome.

There is a reason the harrier is not in 0.8, it is not finished.

however in the typhoon i prefer to fly along fast then reduce my throttle to about 70% then cruise in and smack my throttle off about 200m before, its a hard landing
but you can normally only have to use half the runway, useful if both have been a bit messed up. also this makes you less vunerable on approach.

Too true. A lot of people have screamed out for a longer runway, claiming it's too short. It's much longer than needed!

What i want is a [how to] on the tornado

^^ VERY hard, especially on Brit base:
Here's what I've found has worked, but you'll want to practice it out on training servers h=just to get comfortable.
- Try and have a marker put on the edge of your runway.
- Come in from the other side of the map, keeping your throttle at 40-45 % (should keep speed at around 800 BF2Units, any slower and you'll stall, and crash.)
- Stay at roughly 100 feet above runway, avoiding all obstacles like hills and trees and such.
- Make sure that when you have a visual on the runway, that you've lined up perfectly or else epic fail.
- Don't cut the throttle until you're about to touch down, in which case cut it immediately, throttling backwards seems to work best and doesn't affect you path on the runway AFAIK.
- Taxi backwards only when you are under a speed of 500 and when you don't need to adjust position on the runway. If you try and taxi backwards while yawing slightly, even with a large forward movement, the results are never what you expected or wanted. This is a real killer on Quiling, but I've never seen it addressed.
Hope this helps!

No, step 5 works very well. The trick is making sure you don't fall out of the sky before you reach the fence. But in BF2, provided you are going slow enough, the plane falls straight down no matter what.

I find no landing gear helps
that is until you grind your way though the bombs/missiles on your belly
That was in fact a emergency landing I did in DR when me and my gunner where bleeding from chasing a mig outside the combat zone, we got him thou

I dont find it that hard to land the tornado on Qinling but ye, Qinling's runways aint the best.

^^ Hehe
Well, at least BloodyGabes and I's attempt to win air superiority weren't lost in
too much vain.
At yea, it's just the height of the runway that's the problem, IMO. Even on DR, If so much as one landing gear fell off the already fairly thin taxi lane while doing a steep turn, you wouldn't be able to get back up. THere were several occasions where I fell like that, and had to take off btween the runway and the AA emplacements, and I only had about half as much room because another part of the taxi lane would start again. Lets just say it didn't always end well

hehe, I think you guys got me once when I was diving into a bombing run, maybe more its really hard to tell if its AA or a jet in the tornado since you get no lock tone thou I saw a load of tracers fly past me from behind
I advised UKF to put 3 migs and 1 frog vs 2 EF2000s and 1 Tornado but ye, the change was going to happen then didn't go though
Still, your guys AA gave us one hell of a headache

What i think that we really need longer runways on quinling, on kashan they are fine, but @ quinling the jets are faster, and its hard to land. I land in 800 speed and stil im forced to jump out of the jet to save it from crashing...

Hehe if i remember rightly in the Com match most of ur deaths were from bailing on landing to stop, I hear that, thats the easier way XD
