Really...?
Ohhh yeah they do, but they generaly get used as basic knifes anyway, i think it's pretty rare to see a soldier running foreward with his bayonet thrust menacingly infront of him :)

I'd love to see bayonets. I'm always more aggressive going around corners and clearing rooms when I've got eight inches of steel at the end of my rifle. And as you can see, its great non-lethal crowd control! Someone steps over the line, stick them in the arm or leg. Intense pain, a lifethreatening wound if untreated, and blood all over the place. But assuming he knows how to tie a shirt around it, no messy civilian casualties.

Klapperkop fort...

The SA80 has a strange bayonet.

A bayonet on a bullpup rifle makes no sense to me anyway.

Oh, and in case you needed a new reason to argue over weapons, an M-16 with a bayonet is better than a SA80 series with a bayonet. Hands down, no questions.

Amercians have better bayonets than the British! Take THAT, Cornwallis!

Yabo, No contest there but a bayonet is not only to stab people with, in close quaters someone could try grabbing your rifle...

Then if they do that u pull the triggar and empty a mag into the guy :D

But yea, some classes shud still keep the Knife while others are replaced by a Bayonet !. I love Bayonets !!!! it'll make the game more intresting, u can act out The Battle Of Midway when playing PLA VS USMC !!

I do not think that in the time of assault rifles bajonetts have a use, because if it comes to close quater combat you would rather attack him with a melee attack like a barrelblow (i hope you know what i mean.) than putting my bajonett on which would take me a lot of time.

Thats why you fix bayonets before getting into close quarters, and the guy with a spear is going to beat your club every time.

Yeah but you need no bayonet, make the same move without the little knife in front and your enemy is going down too. Thas what i meant with barrelblow (dont know if this word exists :D )

Thats not much of a bayonet

On a similar topic of crazy ideas : why not add civilians. It would be absolute chaos! Yu would have to create more building with indoors for them to hide in and it wold require a huge CPU but on the other hand it would be orginal and real.
Another MASSIVE POINT: if yu are tryin to make a reality mod you have to carefull not to make one part really realistic but leave another the same old arcadness. Yu can make small change to the guns but any large changes should be cover almost every aspect of that area.
P.s. i am in full support of long sharp pointy metal poles on the end of weapons and while yu are at that can i have a bow and arrow for stealth kills and arrows with high explosive tips for use as mini artilery!

Bayonets ended up being used by Marines assaulting positions outside of Baghdad during the invasion. British forces also used them for counter-ambush against insurgents last year, as shown in this article posted by Braddock in the last thread on close combat.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jh ... nvc218.xml

They are also still used in riot control formations, as shown in the photo posted by Wonder (welcome aboard, bud :) ), which I had been trying to find for the last thread on this subject. Fixed-bayonets are still a useful close-combat weapon.

As for the "barrelblow," that might work, but a buttstroke might be more effective since that's the more massive end of the rifle. Also, that maneuver may damage your front sight post.

This having been said, we do wish to diversify the types of close-combat weapons available in PR, to include fixed bayonets (along with rifle buttstrokes as an alternate fire option) and entrenching tools, but that's for a later date. :)
