I've read that it's a "survivability option" for the AH-6 to have infrared suppressors that protect it against heat seeking missiles. Do we know how many of them actually have it? Is it more realistic to have the AH-6 without these infrared suppressors or with them?

Are you talking about armed assault or something? Because in PR they do get locked on

in an earlier version of PR you couldn't lock onto them i believe.

From what i understand, not all AA's in PR are heat seeking...

Little Bird, like any other helicopter, produce alot of heat. You're sure you're "infrared suppressor" is not in fact a Disco ball that distract heat seaking missile ? Cause from Little Bird to Super Stalion, most of the military aircraft carry one.

That exhaust also reduces heat signature, but I am not sure how much.

oh no thats not the infared supressor... what this picture shows is like a "lock on detector" it just alarms you when a aa is locking you...

the thing with ah-6 is that its not fully protected from heat seeking... you still can get a lock on it but it would just take u longer because there is less heat around it. The thing that does that has a skull painted on it(on the pic)


a good change that could be made to the ah-6 would be just to take longer for aa's to lock it

A Disco Ball is an active electronic counter measure that blind infrared seeking head. The exhaust cooler you seen is on Apache only, Little Bird does not have it. They can have one, but i think U.S.Army decide against it.

Doubt it. It's something they need and it's in the budget estimate for 2009.
