Hey Guys,

i have a problem with adding Verticles to the rings of a cylinder.

I want them at the "green" positions.

When I cut at the "green" verticles more of them appear somewhere else too.
Edit: Sorry, i mean slice.

Green Circle = I want!
Red Circle = Get the hell out of my mesh!

Hope i didnt confuse you too much  ,
but what am i doing wrong?

Servus, Priby

I'm seriously confused, but then again I use max. Sorry, maybe if you explained a bit more.

You could weld them to the point they are attached to by a edge. They appear because what you're really cutting through is the diagonal edge the the 2 triangles that form a rectangular face, in your edible mesh panel, select the triangle face button and select your model and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Personally, since it seems your are just staring on the model, I'd just redo the whole thing except this time, I'd make cylinder w/ a X# of height segments (look on the side panel when you click on the create cylinder button.) and go off of that OR select the face of the ends of the cylinder and extrude to create new "divisions" in the cylinder. Try cutting these shapes from my experience are rather tedious and frustrating and also make your UV maps a pain.

Hope that helps :)

what heavy Z sad is also a way but ill also give my 2 cents.

my input,

dont make a cilinder that coves the complete top view of the blueprint. just make smal segment and work youre way up from that, or do it whit a plane or even beter Spline's :D .
but Gmax wont proberly have the option splines so forget that. also dont select SLICE it has the nasty habbit of slicing around fugly places in Gmax (my personal experiance :( )use cut instead. its almost the same but you can make cut (thats way the name cut :p ), you can make then whit this tool betweens vertex edge or polygons. when youre over a vertex the cut part of youre mouse is smal. when over a egde the mouse grows a little when in the center of a polygon, its realy big. and also turn egded faces on !

but i think (not sure :) ) that Gmax has the option of Plane, use that instead oa cilinder makes stuff a lot easeyr on ya. and also dont make the main hull out of 1 part but 4 or 5 and target weld them later together saves a lot of time once you know how to and makes it also easyr (atleast for me)

just my 2cents :)

@Z i like cutting :p
@EOD Gmax is 90 percent the same as max it just a free waterd down version of 3Ds max what ever version you have :)
