Currently the looking to the sides and top of aircraft views are very very shabby, however its a pain in the *** that its the same key as switching weapons. Am i missing something? Is there a way i can make it so that my extreme 3d pro joystick can utalize those view settings in my thumb buttons instead of the same key as switching weapons?

(I stalk my prey when dogfighting, now i have to very very quickly press my switch weapons key three times when ensuing a dogfight when i want to switch missiles and its distracting. It disables my view of the person im chasing and every second counts.)

yea, each view is a weapon slot, i tink its 6, 7 and 8, but I can't remember in what order

I have my HAT switch set right so I press left and I look left, right I look right, back I look up and forward I am at weapon slot 1 (forward)

Ok, so its a weapon slot for aircraft options then right? And its default is weapon switch button? Il give it a shot, thanx.

The side views ARE weapons. You will always cycle through them when pressing the weapon cycling button.

I dont like it, i have to press F like 5 times. I fly with the keyboard only..

dont worry chaps, its really easy to do once you know which weapon number corresponds to which view, then just jump in to teh options, and put in ur preferences, takes around 5 mins max

I don´t have a problem with it, but one trick I saw somewhere. Use F to switch weapons but set an extra button to weapon 1 so that you can switch back to that first weapon without cycling through them all.

Can't you just press 1 to get to the first weapon?

well....yea. But its easier in my mind to have the weapon selection above your left hand, and the view selector in another convenient location, on ur Joystick HAT, or on the numpad or somthing

That thing in the middle is a "mini-joystick"
I've binded the 6, 7 and 8 key to the left, up and right on the mini joystick, and I've put weapon 1 (gun) to when I move the thing down.

Trust me, it's perfect to use in dogfights and recon.

I still haven't found any use for the camera in the choppers though.

Im glad they took the trouble to put the views in.

Ok well i figured this thing out.

I went into my options and disabled my cycle through weapons key on my joystick (still had the F default one up).

On my joy, i set my weapons keys 1 through 5 so i manually click on my joystick to get to that weapon slot. Then for my left top and right views which are weapon slots i konfigured those keys to my thumb keys, which makes it great!

The let down?

If you are in lets say the left look view, when you press your cockpit cam button (so you can go directly to your cockpit if lets say you looking behind you) it doesnt work.... you still have to cycle through the cams and go back to you hud screen through all the views...

So....

back to square one.



I think if the devs can figure out a way so that if your in one of your side views you can press your cockpit button and be back in the cockpit then this will be great.


Otherwise, as it is right now... its helllllla annoying.

I lost a guy i was trailing cuz as i switched my weapons he turned and it was buonvuayage for that dream.... i was disappointed, lol.

Maybe Rhino will come along and make it goodie goodie for you.

just use the keyboard number keys at the top, thats what i do (and yes i use a joystick). 6,7,8, and 9 are your veiws 1,2,3,4,5 are your weapons easy enough once you get used to it

i always fly with one hand on my joystick and one on my keybaoard, except when im changing throttle.

I do the same as Timo, cept I control speed on keyboard, and rudder, and use my joystick for flares, afterburner and movement (obviously).

Will try mapping those views to that HAT, cheers for the idea!

(Granted, I don't have a joystick, but...) Key combinations to conserve and most utilize space:

Weapons: Set one key to 'Weapon Slot 1'. Set a key, preferably to it's right or otherwise near it, to 'Weapon Switch'. Hit the first key to go to radar-off mode, and then use the second button to reach your desired ordinance.

Views: Best done with a 4 way HAT switch (or another directional pad), or not at all. Left, right, up (or down, if that is your preference) for the views, and down (or up) for your flares count slot, deploy flares, or even enter/exit vehicle if you so choose.

If you have tips, post em.
