IED Variant - Would Everyone be ok with this?

While considering what other explosive devices I could start to make (ie. for PR, not to blow stuff up) I thought, for one, that a VOIED (Victim Operated IED) would kind of be nice because remote detonated IEDs are pretty much done in my opinion if my Arty IED gets accepted (I've pondered making like an SA-7 launcher or something filled with explosives that would be remote detonated, I've seen Coalition forces dig up some of those, but the Arty IED's big enough for now. I also thought of making a shape charge, but with the indentation in the top of the copper it isn't easy for someone to put in the ground without it being totally obvious and above ground). Then, while consider what kind of VOIED I could make, I had a questionable idea.
So here it goes:
Would everyone (or the general population) be ok with common objects such as kits or weapons being dummy objects and they would actually be an IED set to go off when you walked near (ie. disturbed) the kit. The idea for this is that Insurgents sometimes like to make IEDs out of things that would get someone's attention, causing the individual to walk over, touch the object and set off the explosive. So, I'm basically applying that idea to PR.
It's perfectly fine if everyone's not ok with this, I can always make it a piece of trash instead or if you guys have another idea for an object of interest that I could make into an IED, please say so.
Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand, do you mean that an insurgent class would get one of these dummy objects and when they placed it, the object would look like a kit, and then if an enemy solider walked near it, the object would explode?

Basically it's just an IED, that, when placed, will look like a pickup kit, RPG or something along those lines. If someone walks up to it (say within 1m) the IED goes off and there is a fair sized explosion. To prevent accidental discharges, there could be a mine marker for it if you're an Insurgent, that way unsuspecting friendlies don't blow themselves up.

Make it blow if he touches it by pushing G.
It could look like a sniper, HAT, or officer kit.

A very interesting addition to gameplay, but I'd be more supportive if it was possible to code as jOHNNY suggested, where it goes off if you try to pick it up. In either form though, it has my vote.

I don't think USMC is anxious to pick up insurgent kits or any other kit for that matter. Also if there is no body near it then they won't go near it.

How many times have you seen a player pick up an RPG kit, or an RPK kit, or a Mosin Kit because they needed it at the time. Depending on how it finally is decided on how to implement it, if it does get implemented, it could look like a friendly kit.

Basically a claymore, disguised as a kit.
Even better, you could put a fake barret m82, the coalition team will be attracted to it like a fly and a fly catcher lamp

as soon as its known no one would pick em up carelssly, especially if its obviously not disapearing after 30 secs.
regarding the proxomity trigger function, i cant remember if there was something bout that kind of weapon is not to be used in shooters for some reason.

Well, an M82 would get everyone's attention for about 1 week, after that everyone would catch on.
I would love to make it so that you had to press "g" to set the IED off, but I don't know how, and I have the suspision that it isn't possible.
As far as what kit goes - SF, HAT, RPG and PKM would probably all work out great. Granted, I'll be having more work to do because I'll have to make 2 different weapons (maybe more depending on if Canada or another faction gets in .85) because there would have to be a different IED for each Coalition faction, and then a different kit for each faction situation. It won't be hard, just annoying.
Also, I know people will soon just grow suspicious of kits the see on the ground, but so what? Coalition forces right have now have to worry about practically everything bein an IED, so they don't mess around with stuff that might be rigged.

has my vote, after all its been in use since WW2 at least. THe VC did it on a regular basis. The insurgents now do ti all the time. Id bee all for it. I'll be sl and tell the new guy to pick up that insurgent's rpg to use on a technical while I hide behind a building!

Why the hell do people want something like this? I can see it now. Insurgent places this on a static wrecked car, US squad walks by, BAM several guys down with no chance to defend themselves.
WTF would be the counter to this?! I mean, IED's can be seen, plus they have to be detonated, meaning if you kill the ambusher you don't have to worry about the IED. VBIED's can be shot. Mines can be avoided or wrenched. This would have 0 chance to be avoided if placed right and 0 chance to be deactivated.
In my opinion, proximity activated explosives have NO PLACE in PR.

Ahem, you couldn't set this on a car and blow up the road when noones near it, you have to basically be right on it to make it go boom, so no touch the kit model no boom
