Militia's Designated Role

I’m really wondering about what the Militia is exactly supposed to be in PR. If you don’t know already, this is what the guide says:
Code: Select all
The "Militia" faction is a more evolved insurgency.
The militia are a private, non-government force. The militia are not quite as well-equipped as the
regular armies but still have a large arsenal of older Soviet weaponry. They have a more
militaristic structure than regular insurgents and that is reflected in their more conventional
kit load outs. Additionally they have access to combat vehicles and weaponry and their missions are
typically more "militaristic" than "resistance"
That doesn’t say much though. It describes what they do and how they operate; however, it does not describe much else. For example, the Militia maps are based on Georgia, so is the Militia supposed some sort of
Zviadists Militia group, are they a Pro-USSR Militia or are they something else? Also, is the Militia supposed to be restricted to the Georgian region, or can Militia operate in most former Soviet states and Russia, or could they even operate in other hotspots (or sort of warm spots), such as the Balkans?
Obviously, the community is free to comment; however, do
not make this into a thread about the Miltia becoming Rebels or what you personally want the Militia to be.
Thanks.

Generic Eastern European/Caucases Militants. In thier current representation (on Fools and Mestia) they are a group of Georgian arms dealers, but in the future who knows?

Trained soldiers from disbanded different armies who are pissed off with life and politics and have a vast array of old worn out equipment from their respective Disbanded units and underhand funding from varius governments who hate the west
That's how I percieve the militia

I don't think that there is necessarily a storyline behind the militia in PR. But I could be wrong.
They can be whoever you want them to be. its a game

There are hundreds of militant groups around the world. Pick one.

Ok, so they're basically Soviet Army rejects who deal arms and get into little conflicts?
I'm just thinking about other modding proejcts to occupy my time, and I've always liked Militia, but I was wondering what areas of the world are suitable for their operations.

Throw them in where ever is appropriate, we already have Arabic insurgents doing impersonations of the Taliban and Somali warlord clans. Make them what you want them to be, thats one of the advantages of the lack of storyline (like the MEC), theres no established back story that has to be stuck to like a limpit. Theres flexibility there, use it!

I think it's the case with both the Militia and the Insurgents that they are only defined by their structure and the gameplay which they work through, in the future it may be the case that there will be militia forces in the Middle East and Insurgents in Eurasian territories.
Indeed I hope that in the future Insurgents and Militias will be used in different locales.

ish, but I think I'm going to be disapointed with it. I hold more hope for Fable 2 really.

Well if anyone's interested in that case, I'm sort of working on a western Georgia-Russia-Azerbaijan map for Militia. At this point I don't know who be the other team. Probably GB, but if Russia gets their act together they could do it too (however in the current set up, the GB base is in the south, and Militia's in the north so that doesn't make sense for Russia). Map's in the very beginning stages. I have 50-80% of the terrain work done for the map (depending on stuff I'm still thinking about) and I'm figuring out where I am going to put the different control points, which I thought of after looking at some satellite images of the area. The potential CPs (besides GB and Militia main) will be a village, a scrapyard, a church (with a few residences nearby), a barn (near a village), a smaller village, a lake, a gas station and a Radio or power station (depending on what I can do, haven't fully looked through the statics yet). The map's 4km and it has a medium-large river running east-west on the south part of the map, a smaller river running north-south stemming from about 3/4 from east to west down the main river. Then there are two smaller streams that branch off to the west from the north-south river, one going off the map, the other ending up in a lake. The west side of the map between the rivers is elevated with a rocky terrain (but not serious mountains). The rest of the map is hills and (will be) pine forests, except for south of the main east-west river, which is actual mountains (based of the Caucasus mountains encroaching on the south part of the satellite photos I was using.
Sounds ok? I'm not going to make a thread for it or post pictures because right now it's just blue and black grid lines and terrain, not interesting.
I never got any of the other Fallouts, but I looked at 3 because of all the advertisements for it on the forums. The Fallout scenario sounds cool, but I just don't like radioactive monsters can all that crazy stuff. It'd be better if it was a the few survivors left on Earth fighting over fertile land and resources.

North, south, doesnt really matter. The sun usualy isnt where its supposed to be anyway
However, good luck with the map!

What?! If north and south don't matter all hell will break loose! Up will become down, the Earth will fall out of its rotation and the sun will stop exerting a gravitational pull on the Earth!
Anyway, thanks. I'll probably get a thread for it up within 2 weeks.

You're speaking prophetically yet you don't know it yet. Actually, apparently it wont happen for another few thousand years.

I remember this from a few years back, hope I'll live to see it, it ought to be interesting what with a whole bunch of Magnetic Norths and Souths ambling across the planet wrecking unknown havoc on electronics.

I actually did already know about the magnetic reversal deal, and I had been wondering for quite some time if compasses will cease to work properly.
I meant actual north becoming south (like geographically).
And I thought it was supposed to happen in like 2010.

No, it's still going to be a long while before that happens. I percieve the Militia as a radical left wing group that's fighting in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus to bring the Soviet Union back, because if they're "Georgian arm dealers" would the British really get involved in that? That's just me though.

Well yeah, I always found the back stories behind the Militia maps to be questionable; however, Russian community mod isn't ready to go. As I recall, there was some sort of NATO or UN mission to Georgia to help out with some local dispute (not Russia invading Georgia, this was before that).

Jesus....do I have to justify my stories now??
The militia is an organized group of arms dealers running large scale arms shipments to "enemy" elements (maybe the PLA?? maybe the MEC? (not a real faction btw!) Georgia govt obviously has either no desire or a lack of ability to deal with the militia... Georgia..trying to distance itself from russia as much as possible.. make a formal request the United nations to have a force sent in to help them deal with the problem.. all intellignence provided by the georgians of course...
not to unrealistic IMO...
