[Question] Static Pointers?

Hello, I'm currently going to start working on some statics that would be fitting for an abandoned, Soviet-Era built residences because I'm working on a Militia map based around rural areas near the Russia-Georgia-Azerbaijan broder in the Cacausus mountains. All the statics will be destroyable. My first idea is a 2 story, brick aparment building (it will consist of 4+ sections so destruction looks good). Other than that, I'm thinking 1-2 wooden or brick residences.
If you guys have anything else that you would like me to make that you guys need and would fit into my map, I'd be glad to help. These statics that I'm making are supposed to be for a town that is fairly built up (1-3 buildings, not too urban), and is surrounded by a rural area.
So, any requests or suggestions would be great.

Ok...
Any reference pictures? Brick walls, cement walls? Metal fences, wooden fences, wooden fences with planks/boards, picket fences? And how high? (About player height, 1/2 player height, etc.)
Here's what I've done so far with the apartment building.

On the right is one of the destroyable houses from Basrah that I've been using as a guide. The apartment building is a bit more than twice the height of the house. Also, the apartment won't be destroyable because coderedfox advised that destroyable buildings tend to crash servers.

Ok. I'll try to make a like 1 metal fence (one of those with the spikes on top) and two rural wooden fences. Also, I'd like to try to make a brick/cement wall where a vehicle can drive through it after blowing up the wall (I had way to much fun Bad Company as you can tell). Sound ok? You're zipcode's in my sig because the number's even more important to me than to you (I'll not say why, sorry).

Oops, all my stuff got deleted.
Just kidding, now I'll get to work.

look though my post there, will give you a idea some what of the workflow of a static.
also I would look into how the ME Apartment buildings are done ie, floor by floor and try and I would do it that way personally for a large building

Hey, that's not nice.
I finished my VOIED and my Artillery IED (at least to the extent in which I've done all the work I'll be doing on it, rest is up to Chuc). I'm sad now, now I'll just go back to spacing out in class instead of thinking up cool ideas. And it's not my fault that the stupid BFEditor loves to crash and take 2-3 minutes to load all the dumb resources.
Apartment's textures are being a pain so I'm tempoarily telling them to go die, especially with Hugh's comment.
Curse you for messing with people who have low self-esteem when it's their sibling's fault not their own! Curse you hugh! *Fades out* *Sulks*
BTW, thanks Rhino.

Too much destroyables statics will crash your map while playing.
Anyways, idea for your russian map ----» Pripyat (?)

I'm pretty sure there isn't a Militia running around Prypiat, except in CoD4. Prypiat's not even fun anymore like it used to be (fun in a weird sort of scary way). Now a days, unless you're less than 10 years old, you can go walk right up to that giant cement structure and stand there for days and it won't really matter (according to some scientist guy I saw a in a video I saw in chemistry class back in high school). But that's not important, I'm still sulking and the map's western Georgia-Russia border based, I used satellite photos from there to help with the map. Now if y'all will excuse me, I'm going to be unproductive.

Well PoE2 has a Pripyat map but it's based on urban warfare between conventional armies. But ain't exactly the same as in CoD4. The CoD4 version seemed to be far more realistic.
Anyway back on topic. Despite the discussion we had on the PMC faction topic, I wish good luck with these statics.
Here's a slight suggestion... perhaps you could make some partially destroyed buildings so the East-European/South-Russian maps have the look to have been bombed or attacked previously.

Good idea. Quite simple as well so a good intro to statics....

Yeah, I'm hoping to do that after I finished up the apartment, fences and walls, which is a lot of stuff; however, the destroyed stuff is actually harder for me to do because I'm a perfectionist of sorts so I would be putting all kinds of little bricks and debris with the destroyed building, causing the project to take twice as long. I could partially bomb out the apartment building so it like the apartment on that one Prypiat multiplayer map for CoD4, does that sound ok? (portions of the roof were destroyed, and I'll add some holes in the top floor)
Also, does anyone know if you can set a pattern or checkerboard kind of thing when doing UWV maps in 3ds max? I want the building to be brick, but that's kind of hard to do consider how I'm making the side of a building have one 4096x1024 piece of my texture (which is pretty much as large as I can make it without making the other parts look bad). So is it possible to tell 3ds max to apply a piece of texture to an area, but instead of enlarging the texture, just duplicate the texture until it fits the surface?
EDIT - This look ok? The busted up floors' aren't done yet, but I'm going to work so I'll finish the model up later.

looking great so far.

As it is still an early WiP I'll wait a bit longer to have some constructive criticism. But keep up.
Also... I should have mentioned in my previous post that by partially destroyed buildings I also had in mind building that have practically collapsed on their base floors but remain intact in the upper floors. Other possibilities are like a building who one half remain intact while the other half has been practically demolished.
I realize that it is an aweful amount of work so it's clearly not a top-priority work. So keep up with the current static you're working on. For what I see it could be a nice place for some CQB combat.

Are you sure that first idea can even happen? I've never seen a top floor collapse on top of a lower floor, I can't even imagine that happening unless 5 immoraly obese individuals parachuted on to the top of the building. Or if someone blew the support beams on purpose. I was thinking you meant more like the building was hit by artillery or mortar fire.

may be not because of an air bomb but I've seen some photos time ago of such damaged building. I think it was because of an earthquake in Japan. Not sure 'though. So yeah... I can be wrong on that.
