Just curious what the status is on humvee passengers not being able to shoot out the window. Can it be done? Can't be done?

but ehhh, its possible, but you can't have players on able to shoot out of the window since you can't have them shoot "the object they ocupy" ie, if you shot the door, the bullet would go right though the door and hit anything past it that gets in its way, even if we gave it a col mesh which it currently doesn't have afaik.

and even if you could only shoot "out of the windows" (which are closed btw) it would still be pointless cos do you really think you will be able to shoot anything out of them ingame and this is just when stationery? it would simply be easier and 100x more effective to get out, run round to cover (or not), then shoot. then if we include the fact when your on the move, ye, your really going to be able to shoot ppl. I mean, how often have you been shot by one of thous gun ports out of the side of a APC? I can tell you in both PR and vBF2, ive never been killed by one of them, and they would just be the same thing.

Yeah, they do. One of my lieutenants who were in Afghanistan once told my platoon about how the Americans could kit their humvees. He told us they had a .50 cal MG on the roof alongside with an AT4. Then the guy in the passanger seat had an LMG, the driver an AT4 (yeah I know it sounds real strange) right outside his window somehow. And the rest of the people inside the vehicle would have their guns pointing out in all direction. I'm not sure if this was through the actual windows or if they had some sort of hatches though.

The windows of the current humvee are supposed to be bulletproof.
And i've shot plenty of people out of the APC' side/back, Rhino

The Grenadier kit is well served riding 'shotgun' in the supply truck. Can cover a sector with it. Got me a drive-by kill on Qwai w00t!

you can restrict the view rotation on a vehicle slot yes? (thinking back to the old tank driver and the Warrior IFV ofc)

can't you just restrict the view to the window?

it would kinda suck a little if you want to actually look 'around' but at least people could do the ride by thing

I'd agree with Rhino really, it would be kinda pointless- just be glad you get to sit in teh US humvee with bullet proof glass

You can shoot out of the windows on a humvee in real life--I have no idea why people think that you can't. Hell, I've seen humvees with a minigun on the roof and M240s out every window except the driver's. The military does have a metal working shop where they can make all kinds of mods to vehicles. Hence the existence of deuce and a halfs (command trucks in PR) loaded with guns.

well the closest thing i could see that "COULD" be done is make it so that each seat could "roll down" or "roll up" their window in a fashion similar to the merlin. Then you could "aim" out the window or something =/

point is i'd at least like to chuck a grenade when i'm passing by the enterance of Gov. Office =/

plus it'd be kinda cool to be able to put the window down

There's a window? You can shoot right through it from the outside at least.
