Ironsight only maps

Here's a small idea I was playing around a bit: no scoped assault rifles on small infantry maps.

The idea is that all kits get iron sight rifles ie. Officer, Light AT etc. and the optic rifleman kit gets removed off kit menu.
The 3 scoped DMR and two sniper kits are either:
-kept as it is
-removed
-5 DMRs and no sniper rifles

I'd secretly go for removed. :p

Since this means that the limited kit spawners would need their own version, like on Insurgency maps, where coalition gets limited kits with restrainers instead of knives, this would be possible to put only on certain maps along with the kit menu having 4 kits instead of 5, so game modes are out.

The maps that could be candidates for this are Korengal, Op Ghost Train, Tad Sae, Road to Kyongan Ni and Sunset City .

They're all small maps with relatively low view distances and lots of close quarter combat situations.

Another good reason would be diversity in gameplay as everyone is forced to use the ironsights/aimpoints.
IMO theoretically this would mean more suppressive fire being used as people won't be able to just wtfbbq headshot the guy firing on them.

One major thing that would need to be done however is modeling an iron sight version of all the grenadier rifles.

Please think a bit about it before you decide to shove 'zomg no wai, we n33dz optix everywere 4 sho' up my face, since that's what I got the last time suggesting a similar concept.

Might have applications as a training server, as long as low populations etc are set etc

good suggestion. I hate optics on CQB maps.

Why...? If you dont like optics in CQC, dont use them, if people with scopes kill you from long range, start.

Adds a little variation to the repetitive game-play?

Really wouldn't bring much different game play, iron sights aren't THAT bad at long range, the only one that seems lacking is the G3 sight

Ironsights = epic for supression. If you ain't hitting him, you can be damn sure he ain't shooting back at you. Or at least that's my tactic, if you can't clearly see him, make sure that the people who can(peeps with scopes) aren't getting shot at.

How about everyone-gets-scopes-on-their-rifles maps then? I already place with ironsights most of the time :P

I don't even bother with the sights in CQB. I just put the center of the screen on them and fire away. It works pretty well actually.

Quoted for truth. Sights are bad up close.

I like the idea of irons only maps, but not on CQB only maps, I was more thinking on longer range maps to force closer engagement. Like the Skirmish Muttrah.

In short, the two factions and kits are the same on all game modes the map has, you can't change it. If you wanted iron sights on the Muttrah's skirmish mode, then the full AAS version of Muttrah would also have them.

I think this would be cool if it could be done server side or in some way done as a for fun community match or something. OGT with irons would be AWESOME! Close fighting in the jungle... Ooohhhhhhhhhhhh :P

I DONT want to see it as a normal gamemode or something, not too common, just something for a server to do once a month or something if they wish... even just one server... idk. But yeah...

I agree with Okita. This would be fun for a change of pace, but could be come tedious if it's a permanent feature.

It was a "permanent feature" until 0.6, although L85 and QBZ95 with optics were already available in 0.5 for Riflemen and Officer kits.

Whats this fear of playing with aimpoints/ironsights only all of a sudden? Anyone care to explain a bit further from 'do not want' type of context?

Could be because the iron sights in PR aren't nearly as effective as their real life counterparts. Or, as stated before, one can just center their screen on an opponent and have the same effect while still having the ability to engage targets in game at ranges that real life irons sights wouldn't have a problem with (but do in PR).

PR is a game, and this is a fun - and temporary - change. Who cares about how effective they are IRL?
