all right i been playing on training servers and i been practicing "dumb bombing" using bombs with out a lazier designator. so what my question what is the minimum altitude for the bombs to explode and is it worth doing it?

As long as they have a second or two in flight, they'll go off... but just don't be too low when they do, or they'll likely take you out as well. That's what I've noticed at least.

Start your own training server on Kashan so there's no-one else to worry about and test it. I'm sure they don't need more than a second or so in flight.

you can but it wont explode unless its over 500 or so alt.

So...cptste el_74...its impossible, i think, to destroy yourself with the bomb...

You probably just had bad timing with another persons bomb

It can be done, I was on a KASHAN training map and I was helping a new player practice their timing with bombs with no lazer off near the APC training. I watched him drop his bomb load too low and blew up right after the impact.

Yeah, I've owned myself quite a few times on a training map now

Maybe it's different in the training maps?
Because from my experiance on normal servers, is that the bomb will not go off when flying below 500 meters.

yea i dont think it needs to be 500 meters because i was flying the a10 on kashan the mecs took n. village and i came in w/ my a10 did a semi type dive bomb run released 2 bombs around 400-300 meters and saw 2 mini mushroom clouds XD. now do you thinks its worth trying to do taht?

no because the lasing is part of the mod, part of the teamwork, a last resort if no one will lase yes but you cannot guarantee that u have hit an enemy also if there is an AAV there you are likely to be shot down if you come in to low.

But as i said the laser fuction is a part of the mod to bring TEAMWORK to a little part of BF2 thats why they took the self locking AGM-65's of to stop the A-10 from doing his own thing and forgeting about the people that need that support.

doing it on a training server is fine so long as u dont hit the bit where they spawn as they get very annoyed and leave leaving you with no targets but on a live puplic server it would be discouraged

I'm pretty sure with the latest release it was changed to 3 seconds flight time. That means you can drop them very low and very inaccurate, or you can drop the very high and more accurate.
