Stun Effect

Alright, there you are, behind a corner, being suppressed by
an RPK. Then, all of a sudden, your squadmate sprints out
from behind cover all the way to the building across the way,
two bullets hitting him as if they were nothing.

That is the problem. Sure, we have bleeding. But that only
makes the medic you hit once just duck behind cover for a
little bit, heal up, then pop out and start takin' potshots again.
Here's where the idea comes in: a nice little stun effect
that could make your screen momentarily fill with red or black or whatever
and your weapon jerk a little bit.

Make that soldier think twice about sprintin' out from cover
while under suppression fire. Make that medic think twice
about takin' potshots.

What say ye oh wise ones of the community?

Yes, that would be good.

Whenever you are hit by a bullet you should sustain the stun effect, your sprint should go to zero and your accuracy should be decreased dramatically.

Yeah, nice stuff... if you look at SF .. the Flashbangs and the Teargas show some capabilities with the effects aspects of the engine that are useful starting points to implement this sort of effect.

Sounds good to me! I hate when we've got these super soldiers that can take a few hits and just keep functioning properly like nothing happened.

The following relates slightly to what you were talking about, Doc.

I've got my AK-101 and a SAW gunner comes around the corner. I pop three rounds into his chest. He proceeds to go prone and then lights me up with his SAW. Cheapest thing if I ever saw it.

After being shot, people have to be much less effective for a short period of time. Distort their aim or vision if you must, devs!

Also, is it possible to do the thing that Joint Ops: Reality has, where if a round strikes within a certain distance of you, you take a miniscule amount of damage (so you know that if you move, you'll get shot)

Maybe for this instead of showing the red damage arrows show yellow ones? They would act as a warning so you know you are pinned down.

You know what keeps me pinned down? The loud *** noise of bullets passing less than a foot from my head (in America's Army)

Scares the hell out of me!

I'd like to see this too. Pisses me off to no end to see my M203 land 10 feet away from someone and they scurry back around the corner when I should be able to shoot them a few times while they are WTFing was that.

I agree, with SF and tear gas, i think there is a whole lot of coolness we can do along the lines of being shocked and stunned after being shot.

^i IHFSLJHDLSKJDHLK!!HDW*EY)(*YR HATEAHATE HATEHATE DIE DEAD MF *swearing* I HATE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It happens WAY too much WAY WAY WAYYYYYYYY too much. It's that god forsaken body armour, since they are in prone it seems to make the head impossible to hit even though your bullets should be tearing holes through his skull.

the worst is when im moving to a sniping destination, and see a support (on oasis usually) and i crouch and try shooting him, miss him with 2 shots, go prone, hit him with a third, then am mowed down by his gun. i THROW A FIT when this happens because a sniper should make a head shot EASILY crouched from 50 yards away, and his SAW shouldnt be more accurate the moment he goes into prone then my sniper rifle while im crouched.

At fifty yards? If saw gunner was shooting a crouched sniper while prone, that SAW gunner will win every time in real life unless you shoot and hit him first.

Anyway, I agree that there should be some kind of effect when being shot, or shot at. I remember a post from a long time ago that introduced blinking when getting shot, to disoreint the player. It also stated that it would remove half or his whole bar of stamina.

Yeah I like all those ideas I read here. In Call of Duty 2, when a grenade explodes close to you, your screen will turn red and you move slower and you hear the 'beep' sound in your ears. That was really cool... It would be more realistic I think if you would get disorientated when you get hit really badly.
