DIfferent damage model for helis

How about having a different damage model to helicopters? It would work like this:
Instead of instantly exploding when losing all hitpoints they should have a much higher resistance to total,instant death. Like if the helicopter takes soem damage, Controls would not work, engines would go offline etc. That would offer the possibility for emergency landings. Lets just imagine a helicopter spinning out of control. It would make a bit more sense than the instant explosion after a few hits. Smae can be applied for vehicles. Like a humvee should have much more "hitpoint" or health however the performance should degrade just as fast as before. This would possible create new situations with players trying to secure a half wrecked vehicle.
