Well, I finally downloaded both the Core Setup thing and the Map Pack, and tried to join a server. I found the list of servers, enabled punkbuster and clicked same mod etc. I clicked 'join', and it went to desktop and loaded regular BF2 (BF2v : P). I went back to the PR main menu, and tried to start a local server just to mess around. Everything worked fine; the map began to load (took a while), and it said it was finished. I clicked 'join' or whatever to start the match, and it once again brings me to the desktop. Does anyone know what is going on?

What resolution are you running it at?

The reason Waaah Wah has asked you that is because, (so I've heard) PR doesn't run at 800x600.

If you try it in a higher resolution and still have the same problem, post your computer specs and try a search here:

Um, my desktop settings say im at 1024x768. If you meant that I should adjust it within the game, I can try that too. My computer should be fine, because I've played BF2 before, as well as newer games like COD4 and Assassin's Creed. Otherwise, idk

I was thinking this myself...however I've never heard of the resolution bug causing a player to switch from the mod to the original version, just making you CTD or just lose connection. So I wonder if there's something more to this than just that bug?

Im running at the same resolution... Hm...

Did you install in this order:

Bf2
1.41 patch
PR 0.8 core & levels

?

Well, I started the download of the Core thing, read that I had to install the patch, started that, and then began the download for the map pack. That might be the problem, so should I download the patch again or something? Or would I have to uninstall, download the patch, core and maps again?

As long as you did this order, and no errors came up in installation you SHOULD be fine there;

BF2
BF2 1.41 Patch
PR .809 Core
PR .809 Levels

You shouldn't need any more downloads for the game to work. Your ingame resolution WILL have to be higher than 800*600 though. Not sure why it'd kick you to vanilla, unless you were joining a vanilla server. Being in the US, I'd say look for TacticalGamer or BattleArena, they'll be good servers and will definitely be running PR
