Vehicle Ammo Crate

No, it's not just a crate that sits there that tanks can load up from, what I suggest is a crate with the potential to reload.

The Vehicle Ammo Crate would only be dropped by Super Heavy Choppers (IE Chinook and equivalents) and Engineer Vehicles. This crate would have the capability to reload five rounds of ammunition for tank main guns, 20-30 rounds for an IFV, or a complete set of reloads for vehicle mounted machine guns. In order to reload from the crate, the vehicle would need to be within 5 meters and an engineer would need to "wrench" the crate. Doing so would cause the crate to reload the vehicle, and simulate an armor crew reloading the shells in the magazine, or grabbing the boxes of ammo for the machine guns.
A new "weapon" for the armor crews would be required, some kind of hands that would allow the reload so that tanks would not be reliant on engineers for this.

This grants the ability for factions to rearm in the field again, something that is sorely needed, especially for the lighter vehicles, without returning to vanilla style gameplay. In addition, it takes advantage of new assets that are being used.
Possible problems with the system are the loading itself, it may not be codeable to have it so a wrench causes something to reload, and whether or not it is possible to mag link helicopter crates so that 2 normal crates, is 1 vehicle ammo crate.

I would like this, if only so that TOW launchers, AA Missile sites, and mapper placed MG's can be reloaded.

The wrenching idea is pretty interesting, and being able to reload FB deployables would be good too

There is rather alot of win in the suggestion, however I'd hesitate to give the engineer car this ability since its such a small car.

I fully support the idea. Though I mainly want it to be able to fill deployables and TOWs. Only the US engie car looks like it can hold a crate so the other factions would need somthing new.

If you make these crates explosive (after all they are live armor rounds) then I'd support this idea. Making them explosive would make armor campers a little more nervous about just dropping a crate next to their assaulting armor in the open when an LAT/LMG/etc. (you could use a HAT but your better off just shooting the armor directly with it) could hit the crate causing a large explosion.

This would kill the unprotected infantry around it and doing considerable damage to the armor itself, but not enough to completely destroy it (considering it's at full health). This would force the armor attack to fall back a bit behind cover to reload, and also give possible infantry a chance to move out and prepare a counter attack.

I thought about making Trucks be able to do it instead, but I went for the car because it serves no real role. If it were a truck with canvas over the back and only seat two would that be better?

dunno about the fine details of getting it work in a balanced way, but and ace idea. The wrenching part is particularly awesome if it pans out.
