Is this exploiting?

The other day I was playing the map operation barrucada, I was on the USA side and the base we were assaulting was Swamp, so I grabbed myself the attack chopper, and got into a squad, I asked the squad leader to place a attack marker right on the flag..
I then proceeded to pound the attack marker without even taking off from the ship… I got 25 kills this way, however I was still locked on by AA and was actually taken out three times by AA , even though I was on the ship and never took off..
So my question is, is this an ok tactic or is this plain wrong?
thanks

some people use it alot, and is very hard to do so if you can do it... do it, if they fire AA at a friendly chopper and it misses it can lock onto you though.

or if people get an idea of what your doing (firing from carrier) you might get people firing AA toward to carrier with the intention of playing you at your own game, its a catch 22 situation. Which really only leads to the US team getting pissed off.

You managed to hit people from the carrier with rockets??? lol didnt know that was even remotely possible, guess i dont think outside the box to much.

Alot of the time it is the only useful tactic.

It's abit cheap ain't it, just watching your kill score go up, i can see why you would do it. But i would still call it an exploit.
As Chinese i dislike the guys on the AA guns downing the choppers as much as the Americans do. As stated above, i too play for fun, and there is none to be had when all the Ami's are stuck on the carrier.

In my opinion it is a bad idea that leads to Chinese locking onto the US carrier.
However, there is a simple compromise.
Don't fire from the carrier. Fly around and fire at map markers and target area (just not from the carrier). It would be much more benficial to do this in a particular fire control method: from East to West or West to East so that AA isn't focusing on the carrier.

Mh, nah, I don't like that. Not fun for anyone.

In my opinion, previously being locked on and shot down on the carrier is the only situation that would "justify" this sort of tactic, and that situation shouldn't arise on a well admin'd server.
The most fun I've had on Barracuda involved leading an infantry squad with chopper support - calling in airstrikes on key targets, working together with other squads through the commander to deliver a sprinkling of hydras wherever needed - but the best part was always hearing the chopper coming, and watching it do it's job before flying off again.
I can't really see how hovering above the carrier compares.
I would go as far as to say it's an exploit if continued for long periods of time, due to the reloading and restocking of hydras that occurs when hovering over the carrier.

IRL attack choppers enage targets from BVR so I see no problem. Does tend to get AA pointed at the carrier though.

its an OK tactic it is realistic and very useful also requires a great amount of coordination so I'd say its all good

It's not OK however, if you're on the other team and decide to act stupid by ignoring the threat and whine how it isn't fair at the same time etc.
In case of Barracuda there's loads of places to hide, Supplies, Rock fort and that Beach fort have trenches with an underground system of bunkers that people never use to hide in, they just sit on top and cap..

It's cheap.
Especially when it looks like invisible death for the receiving team...

I would call this an exploit and If you were on a server I admin, I would have definitely asked you to stop
1) you are in a main, if you don't want to be mainraped, it won't kill you to take off and fly a little way away
2) Its unsportsmanlike as you are using the main base as a shield (maybe not intentionally)
next time I suggest you head out to the NE side of the map and do the same, but keep away from the carrier
but atm, it is very hard to get past the anti aircraft shield, so I'd understand any consternation.
