Bigger IED's

In project reality the ied's need to be bigger than a small cellphone. This would help the drivers and the people detonating it by making it bigger for them to be seen.I also wanted to point out the fact that just because you are hit by an ied in a hummer or land vehicle doesnt mean it just blows up,often times it will just disable the vehicle.

Well those would make it easier to spot, but I've seen photos taken by squaddies of IEDs that are virtually invisible until you're on top of them.
Bomb sprayed with expanding foam them rolled around the sand a bit = a small, insignificant looking rock that only looks non-rock from a few feet away, by which time you're too close.
I think the current one is fine. The current small size pretty much covers the 'hard to spot, but possible if you're very, very careful' premise.

Only problem with bigger IED's is trying to hide them. In real life insurgents can bring a shovel and bury them underground. We don't have that option in PR. Any bigger and they would be hard to hide inside rocks and debris along the roads.
As for disabling vechiles with them. It's possible. But the IEDs in game will blow up APCs and tanks, so any humvee that is unlucky enough to pass by is blown to smitherines. A while ago playing on ramiel i put an IED in the middle of the road (under/in a rock) and waited for a stryker to come by. I blew the IED right when the stryker was over top of it, and to my surprise the stryker didn't blow up. It sat there for a second then 3 guys jumped out. In a panic i killed the one guy running from the burning stryker, took his kit and killed another other guy. The third guy obviously scared jumped back into the stryker and drove off. I can't be 100% sure, but i believe the strykers weapon was disabled due to the damage. I kick myself now, because i should have stuck with the ambusher kit and thrown an anti-armor grenade at the burning stryker. But then i might not have killed the second guy. Damn that crappy insurgent rifle!!!

We don't have uparmored Humvees in game. The Humvees that go around Iraq taking IED hits and shrugging them off have additional armor, specifically so that the people inside have higher chances of survival in case of an IED hit.
And yes, the PR IED is somewhat small, but it's also very obvious and just screams IED HERE when you place it on the ground. I think it's fair that it isn't larger.

This is already being made by EOD, the Artillery shell IEDs(They used the same pics that you provided for reference as a matter of fact)

How about IED's just flip the vehicle's. But then again it probably isn't possible

I saw a documentary and a hummer dosent get tipped over or anything it just explodes and mostly the doors are crushed and problibly also open because of the blast. Thats what killing most guys the air that suck them them out an dthen the sharpnels and shit is killing you.

Well an IED can be anything. But I like them, how they are now. The victims should not know, what hit them. I have no problems finding my own IED's either. I just plant the IED's near a reference point, maybe a wrecked tank or at the corner of a wall, so I know exactly, when to detonate them.

If you guys ever played Far Cry 2, that's what IED's should be like. And the explosion radius should be much bigger too.

Eh? IEDs don't have any uniformity other then the fact they blow up. I'm sure Insurgents use this to their advantage, spending alot of time and resources making larger, more powerful IEDs for when they are needed, and then can make smaller more simple ones for things like infantry ambushes.
It'd be nice if there was some way of having some varition though, but I think given how many people use the ambusher class, everything about the current IED is fine. In a more limited amount then some bigger ones could be cool.

I see what you are all saying, but the ied system is nothing compared to the real way of planting ied's.Here is my theory Step 1- Plant the (bigger ied) Step 2- Shovel dirt on it with shovel making a big bump in the road but not to noticable,or cement when on cement road.More than half the time people spot the ied' because there is bump sticking out or a object that doesnt belong, not just sitting on the road.
I have seen plenty of ied's flip over hummers and other land vehicles and people walk away.Maybe the could just make it so it gets tracked like the armored vehicles in pr.

Unfortunately the track/wheel knackering effect, and all other effects like that; unstable heli tail, messed up turrets, are randomised. So when a vehicle takes a certain amount of damage, there's a 1 in howevermanyitis chance that that effect will occur.
Doesn't have anything to do with where it is hit either as far as I know, although there's the tail rotor thing for helis on local servers, if you cap a heli in the tail enough then it spins out of control because for some reason the effect can be attached to the tail hitbox on local servers.
