Can we get a more "cracky" sound for the M16/M4? It needs a bit more of some cracking sound. atm it sounds like a water bubble bursting.

blip blip blip.

I have seen news videos with M16 firing and it does sound a bit different.

have you fired one IRL though ?? something like sound would be something the devs would get easy feedback on from there MA's, though acquiring one would be different matter

Any sound clips as an example perhaps, or is this the extent of the post's usefulness :) ?

YouTube - M-16 FIRING

While the m16 does sound more "hollow" than an AK the PR sound is still missing a bit of grainy cracking. on the other side the AK in PR sounds really nice.

as for me, current sound of M16 is quite good, you feel you got a weapon, what i dislike- G3, it sounds like children fireworks :-P

I lol'd.

All guns sounds sound fine atm.. they do sound a hell lot better than BF2 anyway. If the dev's want to change the sounds.. great news! if not... I aint fussed :)

also, what really helps is having the Ultra High setting in the audio options selected (requires xfi).
I did have a video up on utube, and people were amazed at how different PR sounds when on UH... I deleted it though.

That video is useless for reference for 3 main things:
It's a YouTube video (YT cripples sound quality)
It was recorded by a camera's microphone (which can't record loud sounds such as gun shots properly)
It's an M16A1 (different muzzle break)

I have nothing against the sound, but have to admit that when I'm down and the infidels overrun my body and firing them, it sounds so damn provocating :D

I was amazed at how much the PR sound can be heared in that weapon from the video! I always thought the PR M-16 and M-4 sounded totaly weird. :P No real life experience just what the movie's want me to think about weapons :P

It's hard to capture the proper sound of anything because it changes depending upon your environment and your location. The sound differs from the perspective of the shooter, a man standing next to it, and a man standing down range; all three people will receive a unique sound. Not to mention volume plays a large factor as well. It's hard to be true to life in the sound of a weapon when it's at 1/3 of the intensity.

I say we use those 1950's era Hollywood gunshot sounds complete with the ricochet and whizzing sounds.

And perhaps change the death animations so when a person who gets shot while he is prone with only his head exposed to the enemy will suddenly stand up holding his gut then slowly falls over on his side.

Really confused by this suggestion, BF2 doesn't use death animations. Character models go limp.

Oh yeah, I forgot that it uses rudimentary ragdolls. Just trying to complete the picture though.

Where's the Hollywood shootout mod?

Anyway, as for sounds you can find some decent ones on FPSBANANA. Too bad you can't replace them to your liking like you can in CS.

Still the 0.8 sound is missing a violent crack. I only head handgun firing near me one time and it was extremly loud.

After all all shots are exploding powder in a metal pipe. And the 0.8 was missing the initial crack sound, which is caused by rapidexpansion of the gas.

I like most of the gun sound but there missing that one thing the echo after the shot.I do agree with you and they do sound really flat.Maybe the devs can add a little kick to them. Watch this clip to see what i mean for the m16.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_guSZq47 ... re=related

Any audio recording of a gunshot inadequate. Sound pressure level of a gunshot ranges from around 140 dB up to 180 dB, while pain threshold of human ear is around 130 dB. Even suppressed weapon's sound pressure is merely 30 dB lower, at its best, than same weapon unsuppressed.

So is there anyway to even get close to what a real gun sounds like.

I did find one game that i think is similar to actual gun sounds.v=9m-eAna4RMw]http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?
