Searched terms: commander, kit

The commander needs his own special kit to promote him staying in the CP. The sybol would change to a star instead of the bars.

1. Knife
2. Pistol
3. PDW
7. GTLD

I'm sorry, but how on earth do you propose this would make people want to (or ever) go in the CP for the round? It's like saying 'oh I hate running across this broken glass, but if you give me that pink leotard it'll be MUCH better!' ;)

If your in the Cp you don't use your kit anyway............

If a CO doesn't want to stay in the CP why the hell would they take this kit and run about with it thinking 'Oh well I’ll just have to keep myself safe'...

I'm all for a commander kit if the Co where to be made mobile again but not like this one because it's... well... it's just rubbish!

Ahh the commander position is FUBAR now! I used to sit in a command truck and move troops (never near the battle just out of main) while commanding but now I wont touch it. I think the command position needs to be re-done right now it is to real and needs more playability

You can use any kit you want as commander right now. I once spent an entire round commanding as a medic. Makes no sense to give the commander any fancy kits if he's gonna be chained to the CP anyway.

If it were just a pistol it'd promote the idea that if he goes outside the base he WILL die very quickly. Didn't realise you don't need to use the kit anymore though.

Not at all, the command role is exactly what it would be, a communications role. Commanders aren't at the front growling "Chaaaaaaarge!", they're at a radio with a map. There's ALOT to do as a commander if your doing it properly.

1. Talking to squads individually
2. Co-ordinating squads with each other
3. Confirming contact reports
4. Updating contacts movements
5. Removing contacts when they are dealt with
6. Approving builds
7. Removing redundant FBs/Bunkers
8. Approving strikes

Obviously 6&7 are only every 10 minutes or so depending on the map and game, and 8 is very rare, but you should be doing 1-5 constantly, and if your not, there's something wrong with your SLs.

Yeah that's true, but if to do anything as commander he had to use the commander kit which only had a pistol, then even the most clueless commander ever probably wouldn't leave the base. I don't wanna advocate people playing commander till they know the game well enough to do it properly, but if people do go commander without knowing what they should be up to the pistol only thing might be a bit of a hint.

All in all it's just a nice touch if it doesn't take too much work to accomplish I reckon.

If they're dumb enough not to hang around at base, what makes you think they'll actually pick up the commander kit?

If the commander was to have his own kit, it would need to be something that gives him more abilities for commanding.

the mutiny button or !r command exist for silly commanders who leave main, not kits.

I suggested elsewhere that the commander kit be used for his own personal vehicle which gives another deployable.

Give the commander a COMMANDER armored truck or similar, would make the problem go away :D

Well, why not give the Commander something more than a leotard?

1) Knife
2) Pistol (no PDWs)
3) Binoculars
4) Faction signal grenades
5) NO field dressings (if he's stupid enough to get shot, he should die without Medic support)

What I want to know is why everyone thinks that the commander is a respected, important position within the team? Have you not played for the past few months? NO ONE commands these days; 99% of the games I play have no commander on either team. And even when someone does command, SLs disobey orders all the time. Usually the commander is replaced by a council of the squad leaders (strategy is drawn up jointly by the leaders of the squads, communication occurs over teamchat, and no one bothers with markers or strikes). This is why I say that what the commander really needs is a way to have the top down view back at least periodically. The red-dot scans and UAVs of VBF2 are retarded and should stay out of PR, but a top down camera view is not unrealistic, especially for America.

No the commander should not be at the front yelling charge but it is lame as hell sitting at base jackin your willy!!! And please dont say thats because I am a lame nub when it comes to commanding because in .7 and .75 I commanded for well over a 100 matches in various severs while sittin in my fing command truck!!!

I think the commander should get his own special command truck (stick a box and the radar on the duce and your done!) or hell just chain him to the regular duce
