Weapon cache distance?

Hello all

I've tried to find information about this but no results so here I go.

Does anyone know exactly how far away the weapon cache can be from the marker on the map?

Some say 50 meters, others 140 and one guy even said 500 metres but that is just silly.

So. Anyone know exactly?

Weapon cache distance from the marker on the map.

It's a square, thus, from the middle, horizontally and vertically, it is 100m, but to corners, it is 100 * sqrt(2)m [~141.421356m].

I wrote the python code to make it a circle... but they didn't want that.

edit 2:

I'm pretty sure this works in making it a circle.

Code: Select all

import random
import math

cacheX = whateveritis
cacheY = whateveritis

randY = random.randint(0, 200)
iconY = cacheY - 100 + randY

randXmax = int(math.sqrt(10000 - math.pow((randY - 100), 2)))

randX = random.randint(0, (randXmax * 2)) + (100 - randXmax)

iconX = cacheX - 100 + randX

Ooooooooh. That explains everything. I wondered why it was a ~140m instead of an exact radius, and it turns out there's really no radius.

Thanks Geze. That explains it all. I believe this information would be useful in the Insurgency guide. (in the "guide" section of this site).

Many people dont seem to know how to play insurgency at all (including myself up to now! :) )

I never understood why the weapons caches were not also spawn points. Wouldn't that solve a host of problems with the Insurgent faction?

And also allow Brits to follow the unending stream of insurgents to the source more easily.
