[?] PoE2 Tools For 3DS Max Design 2009

Oh yes, my 2009 woes continue...
I've started modelling some statics and I'm hoping to get a few working in BF2, and Ancientman pointed me in the direction of the
PoE2 Extended Toolkit (you may need to scroll down) however that says that it is only tested up to version 9.
I preferably don't want to mess up my BF2 or Max install so what are peoples experiences that have 2009 (IIRC Brummy said something about it) or is there anything out there specifically for 2009?
Again, thanks in advance, Vox.

then you can't make anything good for BF2 without back porting it by exporting it as a .obj or w/e and loosing a load of the model quality.

Bugger.
What's a better/more compatible product; 3Ds Max 8 or 3Ds Max 9?

That's just for 2009 (I think).
I've found Max9 on Amazon for £50, is it better than 8?

well if you export to bf2 strait from max 2009 it will be buggy as hell, statics you may just be able to get away with but probably will get a bunch of issues, wouldn't want to even consider a tank etc, the harrier when exported with max2009 was really, really bad...
but you generally loose quality when you export in .obj or .3ds etc which is what is the only way to "back port" a model to max9 or w/e for export which is what is really required.
Then Max 2009 is again is pretty crappy from what I hear, new features are not needed for 90% of people and is much slower and harder to work with etc, max9 dose everything you need and much more for making anything for BF2.

around 75% of the PR modellers use Max9, I use to use max8 but max 9 is far better performance wise etc.

infact you can run mulitple versions on 1 pc wo problems

, i think you mean licens problems ? if you bought a stand ALONE license then you can run it on 1 PC, if you bought multiple licens then you can run it on multiple pc's. i have used max 9 but i personly prefer max8. had a *i think* a bter UI no need to check all the settings to get back face cull in 9 (max 8 has that by default on).

I mean I'll get it and install it, but if I change computers to a new one, am I able to uninstall it and move it to the new one easily?
What produces better results, Max8 or Max9?

Right, I'm downloading the 3Ds Max 9 Trial now and I'm having some problems finding a trial of version 8 that
doesn't have "1337 k3yg3n" in the title, but I'll get a legal one eventually and download overnight. With 9 being only
£50 from Amazon (that is the Software and not an book, right?) then it's looking like the most likely option.
EDIT: Couldn't find a 3Ds Max 8 Trial, I'll see how 9 is and I'll probably end up sticking with it.

Vox just port what you've done over as an OBJ....
with a bit of luck it will be totally salvageable....

*Hijacks thread*
Anyone know where I can find a trail version of 3ds max 9 64 bit
I have so far downloaded 3 different ones which all turned out to be 32-bit.
3ds max is the only program I haven't been able to run on Vista, It has probably more to do with it being a 64 bit OS then it being vista.

I think you bought you self a book....LYNDA.COM is a tutorial site.
Dont bust you head over buy 3dsmax, there are other ways your can
learn on it. I'm not going to spell it out. The more people use it the more company's will need to buy.
