Hi, so I am new to the PR universe but was turned on by this mod. I have a slight problem right now. I have installed BF2 and patched it to 1.41, have dled both the core and the levels sections for the mod but now that I try to install the mod it doesn't work. I try double clicking the icon which was created after dl and nothing happens. What is going on? Does anyone know why the self-installer apparently doesn't work? please help if can, really want to play this mod asap.

P.S. I am using a Vista Machine.

Sry, going a lil overboard with my own topic, but now I am getting a Failed: Shell Execute EX msg when I try to install the core section. Just keeping you guys updated with my situation

-Based on your first post I would simply encourage a little patience. It took a few minutes before the install started after I ran the file(It's unpacking the file). Start the install and leave the PC alone for a while; if it doesn't start after a few minutes and you get an error then the file was corrupted on dl and you need to re-dl it.

Maybe it's corrupt, it sucks but happens. Does the Levels-file work for you? Try downloading it a-new in that case.

Yuh I had a similar thing it just takes a while after you click the icon for the install to start so have patience, click on it then walk away and it'll work eventually. Either that or its corrupted and you can just d/l it again.

Also make sure that ur running it as administrator.

Hey guys, so I got PRv08 installed yet when I click on the desktop icon it tells me that I need to run PR.exe not BF2.exe. It told me that I needed to update my PR shortcut, yet how do I do that. I have a vista machine keep in mind f.y.i.

It's easy EasyE. Just find your way to the pr.exe. It should be here: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr
Just right click on it and create a new shortcut to your desktop. Then, when launching the app, right click it and run is as an administrator. Hope this helps.

Remember, the long delay when you try and run the installer is because of Vista's UAC (User Account Control). This has to check the whole file for viruses or something like that and it can take ages.

You can turn it off by going to control panel - user accounts or something like that and it should be there.

Did that, didn't work. Problem still persists of using bf2.exe and not pr.exe. I am so new to this mod thing and frankly don't know but I tried to follow the steps taht Fuzzhead gave in his topic of "solutions for launch problems" but don't really understand his step either vary vague and not describtive enough to precisly tell me what to do and where to place each copied file. Can someone help. Should I just delete, unistall and restart from the beginning again?

Yea it can take ages to start the install just give it 5mins and it WILL start.
