I know that EOD's beautiful arty IED is going to be put in game, but I haven't heard about how people will get it, so I don't know if that has been worked out. (If it will be at the mosque or hidden in a number of locations simulating finding unexploded ordnance).


My idea is to have a single arty IED spawn at a cache a number of minutes after the NATO learns about the cache's location (15-20 minutes). The kit would simply spawn next to the RPK, RPG, and PKM.

I think this would promote defense of the caches, and IRL I think it is more likely to find such IEDs at weapon caches than it is in a market.

i got the idea somewhere that it was going to replace the current IED, ie being available from the kit menu. but then again, if its more powerful then that might be a sweet idea. if its a 105mm arty shell then i guess it would have a fair bit more whack then the current IED, but then again im no dev =p

There are several mentions in the .851 changelog.

WEAPONS: Added artillery IED from exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (chuc)
WEAPONS: updated artillery IED models and animations (chuc)
WEAPONS: changed artillery IED icons to 8 to prevent confusing with the ap ied (chuc)
EFFECTS: Added artillery/auxilary IED explosion effect (chuc)

These are from the ".851 Changelog Coalition," the version I was working on had at least one more mention. I'm too lazy to find it.

Plus, AFAIK, EOD finished his model and everything.
