I can't seem to get area attack to work on any of the maps. I am always British or US Army ect, what am I doing wrong? I am commander and according to the map selection screen I have what appears to look like a artillery piece icon, the area attack is bar is full.

also just out of curiosity what is logistics? sorry haven't spent a whole lot of time as commander in PR mp as I was waiting for the CoOp to let me get some training in before making a fool of myself in a live server.

but other than those dumb questions GREAT Work, bots are definitely showing signs of intelligence. too bad my clan don't know how to think like a bot lol.

Commanders don't actually issue Area attacks like in VBF 2, but accept or deny requests from SLs for one. Unfortunately, Bots don't request anything, so no luck trying. Also, look at the guide to find out about all of a commanders assets.

On a related note, wy can't I request an area attack as an SL? Can we not have it like in vBF 2 sp, where you request Arty or something, and you get it, regardless of having a commander or not?

good question McLuv. If I can't use area attack by myself then my SL (assuming they are human) should have a way to request it.

edit I did read the pr manual and I can not find the definition of logistics. if u can provide some kind of link I would be grateful.

I just re-read the PR manual Im sure you know this McLuv but if you didnt here it is,

"Another command available while using the
GLTD is “NEED AREA ATTACK”. Depending on the Map, it requests a tactical
air strike or an artillery barrage at the targeted location. This support is only
available every 60 minutes and the commander needs to approve it."

^Exactly, Area attacks are similar to the Arty of vBF 2, except in the form of JDAMs (Guided Bombs), Artillery, or Mortars.

As to logistics, IIRC it's simply the ability to place FOBs (Forward Operating Bases). In pr sp, you only need to be an SL to place them, you don't need shovels or even supplies.

Area attacks are limited to 20 mins on most maps and the bot commander will use them as well.
We had to limit it a bit just like PRMP otherwise the bot commander would spam it all the time just like in vanilla.

You can just wait for 20 mins!

Happened to me, I was sitting on a rooftop, so the enemy CO dropped arty on my head and at the same time the flag next to me went gray so my CO dropped arty on it, too.

Hmmm, my "commander" never drops arty, only INS. What do I need to do to get area attack?

Bots are bloody accurate with the JDAMs.



2 mates were about 50m in-front of me.

Outlaw, I tried the JDAM on Jabal about an hour into the game, and the message I received was You need a commander on your team to request that or something similar, so I don't think it was just the fact that I had to wait 20 mins or anything. Though who knows? I could be wrong. I'll try it again some other time.

Yea but was there a JDAM deployed by the bot commander before that if so you might not have been in the time frame of every 20 mins

Ah I've only just noticed that on Jabal the JDAM is set to spawn after 60 mins (I didn't do this map)
So you might have just missed it maybe.

Ok, that makes sense. Is it possible to say something different though when the Area attack isn't ready yet, because its pretty confusing otherwise

I'm not sure but I'll look into it.

I get that same message on assault on mestia If I am the squad leader and ask for a area strike IIRC it says this acquisition is not possible without a commander on your team

Is there a way to disable the auto-artillery that's triggered by climbing to a rooftop?

I have never had this problem as I am a squad leader and the only time it seems to come in is when you capture certain points. the only time I camp is when I am having my squad defend flags or I am positioning my squad to capture the next flag.for example I am waiting for other squads to capture Point A and I am at Point B and I have never had AI Commander put arty on me when I climb a roof top. unless I am capturing certain flags.

I personally think this is a great tool to learn how to be a commander or even a good squad leader for PR MP and not a game to become a expert shot?
I get aggravated when I see people saying oh I want a single player so I can become a good shot or something to that effect. to me PR is way above getting kills it is about Capturing flags and Defending them. working with team mates instead of being a one man army
