TAXIING

Suggestion to rebind the taxi controls eg.up/down arrow.
Now when you want to brake a plane it will (if u go fast) lift, instead of braking.
So I have an easy idea that might fix this...
Switch the up arrow so you taxi in reverse.
Switch the down arrow to taxi forward.
This makes no big difference while taxiing. But, it will make it possible to brake earlier while landing, without taking off/lifting. Since as far as I know, pointing the nose downwards when touched ground won't make affect the landing?
One more question is that, is it possible to land the SU-30 PLA bomber withouth killing yourself to make it stop on quinling? It probably needs to be revised.
If there is no way of fixing either of these 2 ideas for a late patch, please just lock/remove the thread.

I can't see how the suggestion could help. Obv. the devs know more than me but I'm under the belief that the taxi & pitch controls on the same keys are on a flip switch and must achieve a certain speed before they change; thus all you'll end up doing is plowing your nose into the ground and not actually slowing down?
And I dunno if it's just me, but the J10 is also impossible to land on Quinling; it just doesn't stop!! Luckily for me 2 nights ago I dropped before the fence, and rather than smashing into it, it bounced JUST over the barbed wire and landed beautifully. Like a swan, so it do.

how would that help?
and the idea is that you need to be at a slow enough speed before applying the brakes,if in a real aircraft, you applied the brakes immediedtly after hitting the deck, (in a large powerful aircraft) you would over heat them by the time you reached the end of the runway, causing brake fade, meaning you have little braking power where you need it most.
of course in real aircraft there is reverse thrust, which is possible with BF2 but applied in a retarded way. This seems to be represented in PR, by how you slow down pretty rapidly without using the "brakes".
Then only way ive ever landed the J-10, is by smacking it hard into the runway, you sink into it and then you can bail out, usually it survives and you do

Well, that is why it is a suggestion/question and not a statement. I don't have all the info to know if its possible or not to do. That is why I'm asking devs

if your going to fast for the down arrow to lift you up instead of landing, surely u'll going to fast and you will crash and its better to lift off than try and brake ?

Well, in real life pushing the brake WILL NOT make the aircraft take off again... even if ud brake a little too early than a specific/exact speed. This suggestion was made to improve realism.
And still, anyone got a good "guide" landing the SU-30 2man bomber?

I totally agree with viper. And btw, there is no way to land the SU like a RL SU would land... Reality fails here `

.
But for the brakes, switching keys would not be a rly good idea, I sometimes use the keys to turn rapidly, barrels rolls etc while dogfighting. Assigning a key to brakes - reverse, like in FS, should be do-able.
DEVS hear us

The idea is to only change the taxi part of it. Not the flight part, the arrow keys are already bound to the flight movements in air. The taxi part as i understand is another thing "bound" to the flight movement keys, and will not have to change the flight controls, only the way the taxi system reacts on the buttons.

I can always save the aircraft at the cost of my own life. Thanks to the magic of bf2, any vehicle without a driver screeches to a halt in seconds. Get wheels down, slow down as much as you can until about halfway to 3/4 down the runway, then hop out.
It's sad to waste a pilot's life, but we do the best we can.
(You might even get a medic to stand by to help save tickets)

Dude

! This is a suggestion thread. A thread to find solutions and come with ideas. Therefore I can't really see hopping out and die, to save the plane as a future solution for upcoming patches. It is only a way to save a bad landing (or a landing at all in SU-30 as far as im aware).
Most of the planes works fine so I cant see any reason why they have to change them: Except for SU-30 and the Tornado to make them as easy/hard to land as the other jets.
I can easily land all jets without needing to hop out and die to stop them, but when ut comes to the two bombers, it is suddenly a whole different thing, they just wont stop.
Yes i managed to land the Tornado, but it is not as safe to land as it should be. And it is highly likely to take damage when actually landing it.
Maybe its possible to make the bombers more like the other jets to land.
Thanks.
