Somalia Pirate scenario

It could be interesting to have a coastal invasion of samolia to search for pirate cashes and destroy pirate motor boats and other assets .... also you could include a black hawk down sort of game play. just a suggestion

Someone should make a black hawk down style map based on Mogadishu...
Though I find the idea of Somalian pirates hassling ships in real life somewhat funny, if only for the word pirate having more disney like connotations, I dont think there'd really be enough for them to do in PR. Sure, it might be nice and convenient to have some sort of african based faction to broaden our horizons, but we also dont have really any statics to go with it, except the middle east statics that sort of kind of fit just enough to get by.
I guess if someone made them itd be all well and good, but... meh... I personally dont think its anything we need to go out of our way for, especially if its only to use them in a pirate map or two. yar har.

Isn't Ramiel based on Mogadishu? It looks like it's from the movie BH Down.

Wouldn't the pirates be at a disadvantage? you know, with their muzzle loading cannons and their cutlasses?

Yea, Okita made Ramiel and indeed based it on BHD
Though I agree with this suggestion to a certain degree: Everything is better with pirates.
(Sorry, I had to. The internet forced me...)
Serious opinion: New faction not really needed - but you could start a community project
- And check out the Priates mod for BF2^^

Pitting BLUFOR against a pirate like faction can be easily done. You have the BLUFOR and the OPFOR already ready to go. All you would need it a map. Make that an you will get the support you need from the Dev's (as long as the map doesn't suck and your PR material)
I would say ditch the blackhawk down idea, its over done and lame. Instead make a fishing village or a moutain area that needs to be attacked. There are allot of idea you can do. A raid map kinda like Ramiel but go a different way as the city maps been done.

-Make a island
-Place a few ships (big ships would suit better)
-Place a carrier
-Island is the pirates main base
-Ships are controled by pirates, forces that spawn at the carrier must capture those ships
-These forces spawn at the carrier (dooooh)
-These forces needs boats (dooooooh) and some LB.
-Pirates needs RPG to spawn at the ships.

If you have the chops a cargo ship would do as well. But it would need to be modeled very well. It would be a huge project but if done right would pay off in the end.

This is a real threat nowadays. There should be a gamemode where the US/UK has to prevent the militia from boarding a ship. The militia have unlimited respawns but the US has a fixed #.
Pirates
-RIBs/speedboats
-on other side of map from container ship
-about 10 boats, 5 min respawn
US/UK
-wounded destroyer
-destroyer has 1 phalanx cannon operational, rest of weapons are down
-has an armory with limited kits/ammo
Each on opposite sides of map

Handcuffing pirates yields intelligence on the X-marked buried treasure. Use your map and shovels to find the booty. +50 tickets & poof an attack helo spawns.
NOW lets see how that old wooden schooner holds up against M260 rocket launcher. . .

A bay on the coast or near a river might work if you put the large cargo ship from Muttrah on it as well as the carrier. Make the 'pirates' insurgents and that mode of gameplay might work as well. Having caches on the cargo ships would be interesting too.
