Militia suggestions

Inspired by the handing over of the Militia maps, to the Russian Forces, I thought I'd make a thread about other improvements that could be map to the Militia faction.

The small arms are probably the only thing I'm particularly concerned about.

AK-101 5.56x45mm - This is the squad leader's rifle, though I'm not sure what a 5.56mm AK is doing in this part of the world, especially when the rest of the riflemen are using 7.62x39mm ammunition. Couldn't we instead give the guy an AKM/AK47, like the rest of the riflemen, afterall, this is the trend with all other factions. If he has to be special, maybe just give him the scope that the Russian Forces use or a Kobra red dot?

PPSh-41 - The medic's sub-machine gun. Now, I love this little burp gun, but according to at least one Russian DEV who's served in the army, these are extremely rare in that part of the world these days. Hardly surprising, since the Soviet Union donated a great deal of their surplus weapons to third-world socialist uprisings during the cold war. It's more likely to be found in an Iraqi insurgent cache, being that Iran is about the only country to have recently produced it on a large scale. I don't propose that the PPSh-41 be dropped from PR completely, only that it is swicthed to the Insurgents, and the Militia medic be given an SKS, PP-19 Bizon or even a Saiga-12 semi-auto shotgun would be more realistic (all these are already in PR and/or BF2v).

Lee-Enfield .303 rifle - Unscoped rifle of the sapper and scoped rifle of the sniper. Now, I know there's already been much discussion on this, so I'll keep this part short as poss. One of the DEVs tells me, that the unscoped Mosin-Nagant will be issued to the sapper, for the next release. We'll have to wait for a scoped Nagant, due to "lack of artistic resources", so the scoped Lee-Enfield will continue as a placeholder (though personally I thought the old scoped Nagant was good enough).

Those are my main concerns, now for the minor ones that aren't all that important to me.

Voices - The Milita currently speak Russian, although Chechens can often have a good knowledge of Russian, as you'd expect they usually communicate to each other in Chechen. Now, I know it'd be fairly hard to find a speaker for voice acting, but perhaps finding a Georgian speaker would be a good enough compromise? There are far more Georgian speakers around the world than Chechen, and being a Caucasian language like Chechen, it's much closer in relation than Russian (an Indo-European language). It also adds a bit more to the game, since both teams won't be speaking in the same language.

Armour - Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge Chechen rebels aren't noted to use armoured vehicles. This isn't too surprising, since maintaining them and acquiring parts would be fairly problematic, not to mention the time and costs of training crews. Since PR is set in the future though, I guess it's always possible that Chechnya could develope a more traditionally structured army. Probably not particularly realistic sure, but neither is NATO fighting the PLA, or the very existence of the MEC. Therefore this is no big deal for me.

How about an AK74? More popular that area?

The militia have been given a big overhaul for 0.85. Lot's of changes to their load outs etc. One example being that the AK-101 is no longer in their inventory, neither is the Enfield.

I hope so, way too overpowered... it's like BF2 all over again where everyone's medic.

PPSH!!!! The PPSH is my lover! I love that gun, and no, it's not overpowered, this is project REALITY. If you ever noticed, you cant shoot anything with it past 100 yards, if even that far.

The Militia Faction is more of a catchall faction, not necessarily being Chechen Rebels. Additionally as PR seems to have several "Hot" conflicts, it would seem reasonable that one of the factions involved would supply the Militia faction with arms.

That right there is full of win, nice one DEVs, you've done it again! :)

I've been searching, but I've been unable to find a single mention of any myself :/

That's a reasonable enough scenario I guess. Georgia already hates Russia IRL, they have a crapload of ex-Soviet armor.
