Disable Vehicles

I had a good search and found nothing so please correct me if it's been suggested...

My idea is that and Engineer should be able to "disable" an enemy vehicle using his wrench. Now I'm not tanking about Armour im talking about soft skin vehicles.

How many times have you been walking to a checkpoint only to find and enemy jeep/Humvee parked in the bushes. Now there are people who say "dont destroy it then it wont respawn" but then you run into the problem where the enemy grabs that vehicle and kills you all. So by disabling the vehicle not only will it not respawn putting the enemy at disadvantage but it will also cause them to have to get out to it and repair it to make it useful again.

Which comes to my second suggestion, once the vehicle is disabled all the seats should still be assessable and all MG's working but the vehicle is unable to drive. To "reactivate" the vehicle it would require an engineer to repair it.

If these 2 suggestions where bought into the game it would bring back the usefulness of an engineer and would make them a much more important part of the squad.

Now by disabling im talking:
Cutting fuel line
Removing batteries
Remove Fuses
Disconnecting Accelerator Cable

stuff that will not permanently destroy the car and should also take alot shorter amount of time

now for times for engineers to do this
to disable : around 60sec
to reactivate : 120sec

The reason i suggest this is because i believe that it will improve game play and tactics as well as making the engineer a vital part of the squad as they are a dieing breed on the Battlefield

p.s Merry Christmas

Well, certainly the latter. ...I see you'd like a "silent" way to disable vehicles, which is sort of needed, but I'm not so sure how much this "abillity" should affect the gameplay?

Though I'd rather see the engies have their explosives back.

I'm pretty sure this has been suggested, in some form or other...

No DEV input though, you might get lucky :D

It would effect the gameplay but causing people to now think about where they leave their vehicles... parking them off roads and in buildings protects them from Armour most of the time but if they park it in an area which is sure to have enemy traffic then they will lose use of the vehicle...

People will be much more careful to leave them in safe and better concealed areas such as bringing them up to attacks with them or leaving them in friendly controlled area. This could also help out with the running out of vehicle problems that everyone is hating because no longer should a squad drive halfway across the map and dump the vehicle on top of an enemy flag.

In a tournament style game this "ability" could very well change the way that people plan and also the outcome of the game...

when people realize that they can no longer drive and dump their vehicles because they will be harder to recover (large amount of time for the engi to get back online) they will begin taking better care of the vehicles and if they dont learn right away they will when they have to walk the map for entire rounds

being allowed to drive enemy vehicles brings along problems of its own and no offense but please stick to my suggestion

i'm pretty sure that you can not do this because it would have to be triggered by damage (you can't add a new status to the vehicle unless it's coded from the start (crewmen etc.)) also this would not work with the new ticket system for loss of vehicles. but we'll see when the new patch comes out :) .
