Grenadir (Grenade) Bug - Probably a hardcoded issue?

Hi.

There's quite a serious bug with the grenadelauncher when you're a grenadir.
From what I can understand it is similiar to the classic BF2 bug that makes it possible to shoot a rocket into the ground and still get it up with the "direct aim" system.

You seem to have fixed that problem so I hope that you can fix this.

You see if you use a grenadelauncher on a very short distance (lets say a choper infront of you or an enemy popping up just a few meters away from you) then the grenade will simply disappear in the ground.

It won't explode.
This became evident to me when I stood perhaps 5 meters from an enemy choper that had just landed.
The pilot was stupid to exit it and enter it again and so he had to restart the warming process.

Now I started shooting and here's what happend:

Either the grenades went straight through, either they went above or they simply went into the ground.

They went above when I aimed badly.

They went through when I aimed correctly (and exploded just behind the choper)

And they wen't into the ground when I tried to hit the ground of the choper.

Here's a SS of the situation: ...aff seems I didn't take one or something bugged up.

Anyway I Hope I painted a clear picture of it so that it will be as easy (if possible) to solve the problem.

I think it a safety thing.
Grenades has to travel 50 m before arming.

Oh cool :o

Thought that was only in RPGs and such.

Why then do you get blown up if you shoot a heavy AT lying down (as I guess the game counts it as the grenade touching the ground).

if simple grenades have a safety thing then well constructed missiles must also have it?

About that HAT thing, i don´t know.
I think it should be removed because as far as i know it is possible to fire a HAT lying down.

Ye and even if it wasn't/was risky/is hard it should not explode but the safety should turn itself on.

I guess lying down will make the backblast from the HAT hurt you...
And grenades from a grenade launcher have to travel a certain distance before arming.

Just one question is there such a safety thing on the grenadier grenades in RL because now its almost impossible to fire a granade trough a window (the grenadier is standing outside a bunker and wants to blow up the enemy inside) and can you remove the safety for the smoke grenades on the grenadeer?

-I think the arming range for grenade launcher is 25m. As for firing the HAT in prone, that was intentional(Can't remember the presice reason though).

A Launched grenade has a minimum firing distance for safety.
IRL it spins a dozen time before it arms.

(offtopic) A Vietnam Huey pilot once had a M72 go off in his chopper but it ripped through the roof and landed harmlessly outside because the roof stopped it from spinning.

It is near impossible to not hurt you self firing a RPG prone, due to the back blast burning your legs. TO fire a AT4 prone, you must be perpendicular to the rocket (T shape), something that is uncommon IRL.

(offtopic) IIRC In Somalia I believe the militia attached 90 degree elbow pipes to the end of there RPGs so they could fire it upwards at choppers

I'm unsure about the prone thing. I reckon you can do it from a hilltop for example but overall I agree with you, especially on the grenadir thing.

Thanks. Thread can be closed.
