No need for a pistol.

If there is any desire for paradrops than a parachute could be requestabe.

Pilots carry always a pistol, it can and probably will save your life if you got shot down and wander behind enemy forces.

And of course they have a parachute. Otherwise they would die if they get shot.

I'm not sure about other pilots but if I have to bail out of my aircraft and make it to the ground safely I will continue to fight. Which normally means I kill a enemy and take his weapon and get to friendly troops. The whole killing an enemy would be much harder if I didn't have a pistol. I have yet to see the pilot kit exploited as a legitimate paradrop kit. So I see no logical reason why the pistol should be removed from the kit.

The pistols not really useful for much beyond self defence, sure you might get a squad of people screwing about with it, but as soon as they are very easily killed (they only have 2 spare mags for the thing anyway) they have no rally to spawn back at, essentially it's just a bit of a waste of tickets.

If you were a REAL pilot, continuing to fight would be very low on your agenda. You'd be HEAVILY outnumbered if you were behind enemy lines, chances are if you bailed out someone would know about it and you'd be searched for because; your also a very valuable asset to your respective airforce due to you natural reflexes that make you eligible to be a fighter pilot and also the sheer amount of time and money spent on you by whatever military. Plus even if you did survive such a thing, I imagine you'd get a stern bollocking by your CO for doing so.

In short, pilots are very valuable to modern airforces, they are ill equipped even for self defence purposes, they're on their own, and chances are you'd have a hell of alot of enemies trying to benefit from your bad luck and the majority of sane people would get their arses back to safety as quick as possible.

Pilots are very "valuable". An apache crew has a pistol and a small L85 each in real life plus a survival "pack" containing whatever they want almost, up to tons of ammunition.

ive seen the survival kit given to an RAF fast jet pilot, im not sure if they get a pistol, but the majority of the kit is necessities such as clean water, food and other useful stuff to aide hiding. for example the parachute is colored in segments, 3 green, 3 tan, 2 white, 5 orange, 3 clear, the different colors can be used as camouflage in different environments (the rest is packed away)

A pilot costs about 7millon quid to train, and that process take several years, therefore what they are given is more about staying alive then fighting. I don't think it would be unrealistic to remove the pistol, however since Apache pilots do have them might be best to keep it, id like to see more than one field dressing though, to represent a survival kit or something.

In this case i suggest to give binoculars to pilots and a purple smoke for all clear signal. If the pilot has enemies in his territory he should use the red smoke if its all clear he use the purple. This will be a good for those who want to rescue him . And at last i think that an injection sheet will be more desirable.Hmm what do you think?

If pistols get removed I'll be pissed.

IMO everyone should have a pistol and any army not supplying it to its soldiers can lick maj ballz.

but no right to remove the pistol from the pilot kit, even they use in real life and just good for a self defense.

Just a question, but is it possible to give fixed wing pilots different kit than heli pilots? I'm not sure how it's done anywhere else, but in the US our heli pilots also have M4's stowed, along with their sidearms, while the fixed wing pilots only have an M9.

I don't think that US pilots (heli) need parachutes, else they get chopped up in the blades. Most helis in bf2 get shot down at lower altitutes which makes less time in the parachute, either death or black and white screen when parachuting on the ground.

Then again when a heli gets disabled in air and it tries to crash land, 90% lead to death since the heli just turns into a pile of black wreckage.
