Broken tanks on insurgency

Probaly havent been suggested before becouse i couldnt find it.
How about this:

Conventional forces allready have TOW's while militia has AT cannons.
Maybe give the insurgents broken old russian tanks, where only the turret works?
It would just work as an emplacement that you cant repair or drive but only being able to shoot the main cannon(not coaxial) it would have limited ammo and their would only be a few tanks on key locations to defend the city.
Offcourse these tanks can be destroyed.
This could add some gameplay too, first clear out the tanks than move in the city. Special Operations, Sniper and AT Units could be realy usefull now. they could position outside of the city to clear out the tanks before landrovers and other kinds of heavy equipment could roll in, and thats when you are going to deal with IED's and such

yay or nay?

nah I disagree.

Insurgents don't have it. They are insurgents.
The militia is the ex-governments or governments para-military and thus they have it.

Would be cool to have a map though where insurgents have to capture a strongpoint from US forces (similiar to korengali valley but other way around) and then get a tank or two that was stored there for like the "new Iraqi army" or something.

Insurgents he says. Like the tank prop at Al Basrah but with a working turret.
I don't think it's necessary. Insurgents already got a load of RPG's available.

What nytemyre says, i thought i explained it quite allright?
But it adds something to gameplay, doesnt it?

now its something else than just move in the city and clear out it out. you have to deal with those tanks statics too :) .

It has been suggested before..
So you want the live turret mounted on a static/unmovable tank?
And these, along with the ordinary static tanks, would spawn "randomly" on the map?
Sounds fun, but also sounds hard to do. And if they were the on the same place each round, the gameplay point you have sortof collapse.

Thats what im basicly saying yeah, and they would spawn randomly, like a cache.

Militia is a good faction to dump in hodgepodges of equipment. They might have a T-55 fighting right next to a T-72, right next to a M60 Patton. Instead of having a their faction's MBT they could have several models of tanks, apcs, or any other vehicles--whatever they could get their hands on.

Im not talking about giving insurgents tanks.
But give them unmovable tanks where you can only shoot the turret.
Just like militia has cannons and USA has TOW emplacements

Doesn't really make too much sense for the insurgents to have those. They gotta hide their ammo caches from the prying eyes of the coalition forces, but they can manage to get an entire TANK out in the open? Even if the tank is not entirely working right, it's still a stretch.

The whole point of the insurgent faction is lack of heavy assets. They hide ammo in their backyard in a city, instead of occupying elaborate bases hidden in backwoods wilderness, like militia does.

Im just saying some of those destroyed tank props should be useful for the insurgents.

Better off on taliban maps than Iraq...I've seen some pics of taliban with old T-55 tanks while insurgents in Iraq havent seen any pics or reports with they use of tanks- or at least what I know.

for the taliban maybe, insurgents no, they are civilians who have taken arms, not soldiers majority of the time.

Insurgents can be former military or trained in the insurgency school of insurgence as well as civilians with no combat experience. Some of them have modified trucks with mounted weapons (AA, HMG, LMG, BFG), depends on how organized/dedicated their particular cell is.

But a plane is flyable? a broken tank not?

I doubt that after 5 years any Iraqi insurgent cell would still have access to a tank. And even if they do come out with something like that, it would get destroyed the same day.
