MEC vechiles!

Hi!

It almost seems like some sort of propaganda, either pro or against (depending on where you sit) that Russia is supplying every single piece of weaponry to the islamic countries.

Among many things Turky and Egypt have highly modified Patton tanks. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabra_(tank) - Perhaps the coolest tank in the world).
Iran has its Zulqafir (Spelling) tanks similiar to T-80's
Iraq had its "Babylon" tanks.
APC's are many and plenty in terms of domesticly produced stuff.
Iran also has a bunch of Ground Attack aircrafts that are domesticly produced and it has Tomcats that are US equipement.
Saudi Arabia has many western combat vechiles including Abrams.

So sure, Russia might be the main supplier to a few countries but this is definetly not true for the majority and while it is hard to correctly simulate such a broad coalition I think that some western, chinese and domestic vechiles should replace the Russian ones.

From what I can see the main suppliers beyond Russia are Brazil, France, The United States and China.

If you'd rather concentrate on actual nations then Iran would obviously be the major player in the middle east. In this case, domesticly produced stuff with a mix of Chinese, US, and Russian equipement is most correct.

In my opinion the Mec forces should not have the most modern equipement. Instead they should rely on faster spawn times and some more crude but devestating weaponry.
How about a commander controlled Scud missile in their main base in Ejod that can be fired once every 10 minutes and that can be destroyed by US forces, forcing it to respawn in 20 min.
Or what about adding more but weaker tanks to the Mec forces on the same map (Zulfiqar) instead of some of the APC's. Forcing the US to be a bit more tactical.

Things like this would be more fun than just a pure, modern Russian army.

edit: obviously this is not something done over night. Just a suggestion for the far future.

Why fix, if it's not broken.

Leave it the way it is.

If you want to have different weapons, vehicles... START DOING SOMETHING. DEV's already have a lot of work on their shoulders

No I agree with you. I don't have the time to do this neither but perhaps if someone has it could be a cool thing. There's already polish and norweigan and russian teams...and none of those are even in the game.

A MEC modding team would be far needier IMO.

I think the PLA needs more love. They get so little attention from the community I wonder why they're even in the game. Then again, information on the PLA and their equipment is not as common as the other factions

The PLA is basically fine, though there are a couple vehicles and a sniper rifle that need to be replaced. (Especially that terrible Nanjing model.)

The MEC has two urgent vehicle placeholders:
Vodnik (it's an awful model in the first place, and they probably wouldn't be using them...)
BTR-90 (already addressed for 0.85)

So you want the whole MEC arsenal to be replaced?

alot of work for very little.

thats called the insurgency mode

they are getting a new armoured car, a new tank, they've been reskinned and their rifle is a PR original afaik. That's quite alot of love :) and they have quite a few good maps.

 lol.

There's only Russia, China, the US and Insurgents eh?

What we otherwise call the Iranian army and the other armies of the world are only illusions. In reality they don't have anything more than insurgent weapons. :(

Really dude ^.o
All I'm saying is that MEC should be something between US/China and Militia. With the most devestating but perhaps inaccurate weapons in terms of Scuds, ultra heavy artillery (M-203) etc.

One major thing people haven't mentioned is reverse engineering, something middle eastern countries seem to have quite a dab hand at (are good at for all the done blightyites). I imagine that alot of the non native middle eastern equipment they use they will have bought a few of, got some **** hot engineers on the case, and started making them for themselves, probably modified a little for their specific needs. Obviously they'll still buy alot of kit, but they do seem to use this approach for alot of stuff, from AKs to attack helicopters, from what I've heard and read.

Yeah besides MEC already has a lot of western weaponry. I mean... it's almost a complete different faction from vanilla MEC. MEC doesn't have any more Kalashnikovs and it's filled with G-3s. Their camouflage is the US 3-color desert tan (The famous Chocolate chip camo). And MEC also has the EC-135 that is from Eurocopter.

Besides... in the middle east armored vehicles that come from Russia are always present. Every army in the middle east (Except for Saudi Arabia and some others) use Russian tanks such as the T-62, T-72, T-80 and I think the Iranians have getting lately T-90s, not to mention a lot of APCs that are from Russia or other east european countries.

Hell... If it was my call I'd give MEC lots of russian weaponry  Luckily it's not my decission.

So I vote to leave the MEC just as it is ;)

Rearming the MEC with this that and the other has come up time and again. MEC equipment is changing, have no doubts and we have come a long way from the MEC of vBF2.

Closed for resuggestion.
