Does anyone use Skype in PR?

Me and some of my mates are using Skype while we play (Group call). Since the last x-fi driver update (vista) everything is smooth.

Me and "my" squad [FIN]Samovaari, [FIN]Gary_Eispii, [FIN]Kapru and [FIN]Petzkulz are pretty aged folks, 1 over 40, close to 50 actually, one is over 40, two are almost 40 and one is almost 30. Usually we play together, in closed sq.

Group call is a great tool and we use it every day.

Does anyone else use it, if not, try it!

Haha, nice. Ive done group call on skype but never thought about it for PR. Though honestly, I think TeamSpeak might just be better option as you can just join the server and not have to call/invite each person

But yeah, group call is VERY convenient for a lot of things

p.s. Welcome to the forums and happy new year :)

3 of us are also work buddies, one of the guys i´ve known for 26 years and almost all of us are married with children (i have four, 5 and 6 year old and 2 month old twins) so we cant set a time when to play and where to play. We got stuff to do! Also we work at different shifts (morning, day and night)

Wife always nags constantly about playing, but when i give her options like A. nearest pub, with the boys B. join a icehockey or football club again and start to practice and with them long *** away games etc etc.. i get to sit in front of the LCD with PR...at least i´m here... :-P

With Skype on you can just make a quit chat and ask: wanna go now or later..

I hear you 5by5 on the PR issue and the wife. I will have to implement some of your arguments next time the issue comes up.

I would not use Skype personally for PR becuz it is a very needy application with respect to computer resources, imo.

We use Skype when testing PRSP but we've found it can be resource hungry when hosting both Skype and game. Is a handy tool though.

Only with people I know in real life.

I like it because it allows us to talk about stuff that's actually going on in real life, without clogging up the squad VOIP.

oh dear *_* skype I can not imagine how it would work for me XD Sometimes we are about 9 people in 3 different squads. So we would have to always call each other for next round cuzz squads change, some1 leaves, whatever... No thx :D teamspeak ftw! :D Also: very handy, simple, uncomplicated

the Xfire porgram works just as well as the skype. and you can open a xfire window with in the game so your not pulled out of PR. but i dont know about skype. but thats what me and all my friends do. "we brake up into 2 or 3 squads and run as squad leaders. make some really good tactics with the SL of the inf/tankorapc/and air all being able to talk to each other.

Im using it too while playing with friends (two of us have VOIP problems). The best thing is that you dont have to "push to talk" anymore, though we loose connection sometime during the game.

We did loose connection too, but new x-fi drivers did the trick. Since then, all is good.

You are right about that no push to talk!

We did try teamspeak and x-fire, but it is a no go..i dont want to chat with guys who dont how to play the game (TEAMWORK)...pardon me, but a 14 year old Romanian dude with very limited english and vanilla kind of spawnrape/baserape manners are just too much...

All of us has a military backround, UN forces and Finnish army, that helps also (commands, how to defend, how to attack, etc..). One reason why we are almost always at top of scoreboard..

I use skype for Project Reality sometime.Teamspeak is a better option with a push to talk advantage.
