Well, atm, the Chinese are using the AK-47 which in reality should be the Type-81, but the QBZ-95 is quickly going to replace all Type-81s. That is one thing that is missing for the Chinese rifleman/foot soldier. As they have the short specops version, aswell as the support and sniper weapons, but the main rifle configuration is missing and should really replace the AK-47 ingame.
Oh btw, would be cool to see the AA-12 though might be some balence issues heh and it's not quite feilded yet right?

Not as quickly as you think. The PLA rapid deployment forces have expressed disappointment in the weapon and it seems to be headed back for retooling. Type-81 is likely to stick around for quite awhile.
Also, BF2 identifies the weapon in use as the Type 97, which is the 5.56mm NATO version of the QBZ/Type-95 rather than the carbine.

Correct, it's not fielded at all. There's interest in it but, so far, no field tests or low-rate initial production contracts that can be verified. Right now the shotguns in US service are various pump-actions (Remingtons and Mossbergs) and the M1014 Joint Service Combat Shotgun.

I know for a fact though that Chinese SOF units use the QBZ family of weapons pretty extensively, not just the carbine version either. If PR intends on including special operations type maps I think the QBZ-95 should be the primary assault weapon for Chinese SOFs, as well as other variants in other classes.

Dude, I've wanted to suggest the QBZ-95/Type-95, but never got around to it. I realize what you are saying is true for now, Mr. Baker, buuut doesn't BF2 take place a few years in the future (judging by Wake Island 2007 map) so maybe we could stretch the truth a bit and just include them assuming that they were eventually retooled and replaced the Type-81?

I'd be on board to model it. It's pretty sexy.

and

A few years? 2007 is
next year, and that's not long enough to completely replace the primary weapon of the world's largest land force. The QBZ-95 family of weapons could certainly be a weapons option for some classes/maps (through the unlockable tabs), but it will not be the only option.

Cool, would be nice to have some unlockable stuff going on, I'm not sure if it's possible though to have unlocks for each army, I wonder if there's a work around.
The Chinese WZ-9 addition is nice though, can't wait to see more stuff coming for them.

He doesnt mean unlocks. What he means is, the PR team will use the Unlock system to make multiple kit loadouts available for each class. Eg, you can chose between a British support kit
with the LSW or click the unlock tab and have a support kit with a MINIMI.
The only reason I can see for this not being in BF2, was becasue it lacked the assualt class Grenade Launcher.

thats a point
but it would be still nice to use as a 2nd option or use it for the medic

The LSW is the DMR not a support weapon.

Its a "Light Support Weapons", hence the LSW. Thats why jellys suggest you could switch bettween a LSW and a bigger merchien gun for the task that needed to be done. For exsample you might want to support the squad with a little bit of cover fire, but at the same time be more suited for close combat where the LSW would come in better than a bigger merchien gun.

the weight of the weapon needs to affect running speed and other things more to make people actually choose the smaller weapon over a more powerful one

Personally i would like to see the PLA have a more modern weapon simply because although it is a huge army they are not so far behind the times that everyone is using Ak-47's. Yes i think MEC should get AK's as more true to life that way.

And not only that, it would add more variety and make the MEC and Chinese sides much more distinct!

Agreed. I was watching a video on SEALs, and they said the slowest guy in the squad was always the M60 gunner
